Stephen: I can’t thank Andrew Biggio enough for taking it upon himself to track down these stories and helping preserve the life and legacies of extraordinary men and women who served in the Second World War. These stories are first hand accounts as told by the aging veterans themselves who carried these experiences with them their whole life. This book and the prior book has inspired me to learn more about the stories of my own family who served in WWII as well as to seek out and appreciate similar stories belonging to those in my own community. Lest we forget the sacrifices these extraordinarily ordinary men and women made when their Flag, and the world, asked them for help. These narratives are extremely powerful and enriching. One could learn more from these accounts than the average individual could in years of primary and higher education. This book and its predecessor are some of the best books I’ve ever read in my life. As someone who fervently loves history, and appreciates learning life lessons taught by those who experienced hell on earth, I reverently implore anyone interested in hearing from WWII veterans themselves to purchase this book and leave a review here on Amazon.

petal fluff: Interesting concept by Andrew Biggio, to use a standard WW2 combat rifle to record 300 names of men who were hero’s and are fading 8th history. The saying “history repeats itself” is true, but each new generation learn from history we have a chance of peace in the world. A good read.

Robert Moyer: Having read many WWII stories and biopics, the 20 chapters of this book is not only an easy read, but it tells the stories from various viewpoints and theaters of combat. The book focuses on the individual and their lives before, during and after WWII. After reading this book many will get a better understanding of why this was called the “Greatest Generation “.

Thomas Hayes: Iv been interested in WW2 history for over 10 years now and have watched every documentary there is. Iv read over a dozen ww2 related books and The Rifle is by far the best. Giving a broad perspective of the war. Excited to order The Rifle 2.

Amazon Customer: I cannot recommend this book enough. Often most of what we hear of World War Two are adapted from after action reports written by people who were far from the actual events, and most of what he know of the war isn’t even a sliver of what occurred. Hearing these veterans open up about their personal experiences and seeing them come back from such a brutal experience and go on to live productive lives (with some struggles afterwards) is simply incredible and goes to show that no matter what hardships and challenges you face, it is possible to overcome those experiences and lead a productive life.

Jaycee Hellenbrand: First of all, thank you sir Biggio for bringing out these amazing stories into one book.
If you think this book is the same as any other World War Two book, then you’re mistaken.
This book tells you stories from multiple American World War Two veterans.
Everyone should read this, history buffs and also people who are not that interested in World War Two. After reading this book you’ll have a better understanding of what these young men went through to selflessly protect millions of European citizens. Also your respect towards these heroes and any veteran will grow more and more.
Thank you for writing this book so the stories won’t be forgotten

P. Athanasiou: The author of this book, a retired US Marine veteran of two recent military campaigns, had a highly original, and wonderfully executed idea: to interview surviving WWII US Armed Forces veterans, so as to preserve their personal stories for posterity. At the end of each interview, the interviewee would sign his name and campaign on an M1 Garand rifle, the standard service rifle of the US Armed Forces during most of WWII. The veterans' stories are mostly related in the third person, interspersed with the odd verbatim quote, and although the author is not a trained author, he has done a very decent job out of conveying those stories in an engaging manner, resulting in a highly readable work. What strikes the reader is the highly personal takes of the interviewees on their war experiences: no two stories are alike, with each of the veterans having lived the campaigns they participated in in their own, personal way, and processed their implications differently. Overall, this is a great piece of work, which both preserves the memory of the great men of the WWII generation and serves as a rich repository of lessons for future generations, on the experience of war, its effects on the...
