Stinky Bins: Combat Garbage Odors and Sludge Buildup with Effective Control

Maddi Clark: I'm going to say something a little gross, but it really gets the point across about this item-I live in above 100 degree temperatures in the summer, which means we get visits from creepy crawly friends very often in the heat, especially around the trashcans outside. I had a really horrible fly/larvae issue with our trashcans this past summer, no matter how many times you rinsed the can, double bagged trash, waited till trash day to bring bins out, we still had this issue. I ordered this stuff as a last resort-quite literally cleared our problem up in two days. Since I've kept it on hand just in case we have this again, but you can bet i'll be ordering much more when summer comes next year.

LynnieM: I think by downsizing my trash bin with the town, it smells worse than ever. The big can was bad enough and I had hoped the little one might be better but...along came Stinky Bin. It does work provided I put enough on the bottom of the can but it is pricey. I've used it twice and I'm down to half a bag. Don't think I would buy it again because of the cost factor. If I soak an old rag in white vinegar and put it in the bottom, it works just as good if not better...But, it is an attractive product!! I wish it were cheaper!!

Ms Mama C: After talking to a friend about how terrible our garbage can smells in the dead of summer, she said she uses this product, Stinky Bins, and highly recommended it. I was a little reluctant to purchase this product because of the cost but figured if it worked to reduce that nasty garbage can funk, it would be worth it.
The product has a cherry scent to it. I managed to get us through most of summer with just one bag, using sparingly of course. I didn't measure out the product, I'd just sprinkle some in the bottom of the can after our weekly pickup. I might add just a little more to the can throughout the week, depending on how stinky the can became.
Now that the weather is warming up, I need to order another bag. I'm hoping I'll get us through another summer with just one bag. $12 for under two pounds is not super budget friendly in my opinion. But the stuff works, and it sure does beat having to wash a huge garbage can every week.

FS: I bought these for our garbage bins but agree with some of the other reviews you don’t get a lot so it doesn’t last very long. They do work well in not just neutralizing smells but also absorbing the nasty liquid that can get at the bottom of bins. We have a diaper bin that has a tight seal and works really well in keeping smells in. The only thing is you get a nice whiff when you open it. On a whim I tried these and it worked really well. So much so I’ve bought this item multiple times and use it mainly for the diaper bin. Solid product.
