I have wanted an electric kettle for a long time, so off to Amazon we go....where of course there are only ten thousand to choose from.
But what, are they having a contest to see who can make the ugliest kettle? Please.
Yes, there a a few attractive ones. At twice the price.
So this one looks pretty good by comparison, plus it was one of not many with a smaller capacity. I just want to boil water for a cup of tea.
But the good news is I'm done using a stovetop kettle which is heavy and requires a hotpad. And I won't be putting more of those evil gas by-products in the air.

This water boiler replaces an old Black and Decker kettle we had for a long time. This new one is very attractive to have out on the countertop, and the size is perfect. This electric kettle is visible but does not scream for attention. The water boils very quickly, and the automatic shut-off is a good safety feature. Also, easy to fill.
This kettle does everything it is supposed to, while looking attractive!

Love this kettle! It's the perfect size to hold enough water that it's not overly heavy to pick up when full, but at 1.2L or 5 cups, still enough water for multiple cups of tea.
It heats up really fast... twice as fast as the kettle I replaced, which is much appreciated when I stumble downstairs half asleep in the morning and really need a cup!
It also has a little window so you can see the water level, so you don't need to keep pulling off the lid to see how much water is left.
The lid is also very easy to open... it has a thumb tab you press and it pops open like a trap door, so you never need to handle the lid or take it off.
I also appreciate the screen filter on the spout, because it will keep any creepy crawlies out, and yes, with my old kettle I once poured a cup of tea to discover fruit flies floating in the water, who had apparently hijacked into my house on some bananas and were looking for water (I guess flies need water too). Nothing will ever be able to crawl into this kettle!
