Thomas Vincent: This knife is very sharp and very small. Smaller than a key. Non-locking. There is no good reason to buy this knife for this price, but I wanted it.

TeradTerad: This is a proper sharp Spyderco knife but if anything it’s good as a key ring not much else in my opinion.

andrew: Wanted a keychain knife but not something cheaply made. They seem to have kept the same solid build quality as their larger knives. It's barely noticeable in weight or size. I haven't used or seen their smaller version (the bug) but the honeybee has enough room to get two fingers and your thumb on there... plenty of purchase and perfect size for cutting paracord, opening boxes, and other small tasks. Not worried at all about it accidentally opening or closing... positive stops on both without being awkward to open or close. Great, sharp little knife and I appreciate the stainless steel aesthetic.

Jr. W.Jr. W.: I originally bought this as a backpacking safeguard, don't usually need a knife, but its nice to have a small one around when I do need one. Otherwise it lives invisibly and unobtrusively in my purse.

I actually used it to skin some mice and rats a few days ago. Probably should have sharpened it a bit first though and the job would have been easier but I had no real issues. It was really nice to have something small and be in full control of what I was doing on a tiny job. I even used it to chop the heads off and slice the skulls neatly open as I have yet to figure out the secret of removing the brains any other way. Granted, the bone in these skulls is paper thin, but it wasn't happening with my fingernails unless I wanted to make a ridiculous mess. I also scraped the tissue and fat off of the skins with this same knife and it worked beautifully.

It cleaned up real well, and its simple enough in design that even dropping it in the dirt, just requires a quick blow and a dusting and it's good to go.

Mr. Martin BrownMr. Martin Brown: When my Leatherman Style (the original one) broke I had to find an alternative for my key-ring. I tried a Victorinox SD and a Victorinox Escort but neither are much good as a knife, they are simply too flimsy. It may be useful however to compare them with the Honey Bee.

From the attached image comparing the Victorinox Escort with the Spyderco Honey Bee and it is clear that the Honey Bee blade is significantly larger. It is also thicker and it 'feels' more securely mounted.
As well as the extra features on the Victorinox knives, they are sharper out of the box than the Honey Bee and they are cheaper. If you were thinking of a Victorinox SD for your key-ring, forget it for key-ring use as the bade opens the wrong way - TOWARDS the key-ring rather than outwards!! How on earth did they get that so wrong?

You obviously don't get the file, the tooth-pick and the tweezers with the Spyderco but what is it you want a knife for? For cutting things, the Spyderco is a no-brainer as it has a MUCH stronger blade. It sharpens up OK but I'm not convinced that it holds it's edge particularly well.

The other advantages of the Honey Bee is that it feels far more robust and...

Joshua P.: My main goal of this purchase was to find something I could put on my keychain that was small and unobtrusive, while still being functional and exceptionally sharp. After this Spyderco Honeybee arrived all of these boxes were checked. The Honeybee folded is literally the same length as a house key and the width is that of about one and a half keys pressed together. Lets just say it has enough thickness to get a decent grip on it. Where the functionality comes into play is Spyderco's signature Round Hole that they fashion into virtually all of their knives. In my experience with buying an array of folding knives in general, most folding knives of this size or that wield a similar blade length (<2 inches.. ex. SAK Classic SD, Leatherman Style CS/PS ) use traditional nail nicks in order to get the blade out. With the Round Hole, you're able to squeeze the back-side of the blade with the soles of your thumb and index finger, and pull the blade out. It almost makes you respect the blade of your folding knife more.. and rightfully so. The blade sharpness on this thing is razor sharp and is NTBFW as it was able to sharp my arm hairs with ease. Damn thing might as well be a surgical...

leehugheshdrleehugheshdr: Before I go any further in the review I want to say I did not receive a discount when I bought this knife nor was I given it for free, I paid for the item with my own money after researching various Pocket knives that I felt would suit my needs.
-
I bought this to keep on my keyring for everyday tasks like opening boxes, letters, packages but I was a little unsure on how well this would actually work considering its tiny size. But the size actually turned out to be perfect for my needs. The HONEYBEE comes in a nice little box as shown in my photos but that is all you get with the item. No care instructions etc are included but then at this price (I paid £19) I don't really expect there to be much else included but it would have been nice to have some form of care instructions with details on cleaning and maintaining etc and a little storage case would have definitely been welcome. It’s not the most expensive knife I have bought but I have had cheaper knives that came with a case or even a paracord key ring.

The knife itself is very well made and even though it weighs just 17g it feels solid and the mechanism that keeps the knife "unfolded" or "open" doesn't feel...
