SRaySRay: Very cool knife. I have many Kershaw (great knives at a reasonable price) , Bucks etc. this is certainly a step above. I don’t understand the issue people have with blade lock. No sore thumb experience… yes scales will probably scratch a bit, but it’s a knife to be used… if you want a unique, beautiful piece of work this is it.

Einey: I was a bit reluctant to try something new from Spyderco as I'm used to their USA made PM2's and PM3's and such but was VERY pleasantly surprised with this knife when I received it. The K390 blade was hair-splitting sharp out of the box and the action was buttery-smooth after a touch of KPL lube in the pivot.
Highly recommend this knife, perhaps not as your FIRST Spyderco (start with the PM2 or PM3) but this is well worth it and it will make for a wonderful EDC option.

Kindle CustomerKindle Customer: Excellent EDC Knife! Pictures can’t show just how beautiful this knife is; one has to see it in person to appreciate the 3D effect and craftsmanship. Thought it would be too small, but nice for an occasional/ discreet EDC. It is now my primary. Fit, finish, and quality are superb. Gorgeous to look at, and very sharp. Numerous compliments from all who have seen it.

Geezer: This is the first Spyderco model I've purchased in quite awhile having become disinterested in their line since buying a Southard a couple years ago and selling it less than 3 months later and a Sage1 that I bought last year and just don't care for. Their recent well publicized problems with their Bradley Advocate convinced me to go with one of their traditional models if at all. The Chaparral piqued my interest after a couple old Spydercos made it into my EDC rotation recently after taking them out of my safe for some basic cleanup maintenance I like to give my knives occasionally. The Chaparral looked like a stylish alternative EDC to my normal small gentleman's folder I'd been carrying and at a hundred bucks it didn't break the bank so I thought I'd give one a try. Spyderco's strong point has always been for the most part their fit & finish and their out of the box blade edge integrity both in sharpness and blade edge evenness. The one I received was perfectly finished with all the parts machined perfectly uniform and fit to perfection. It has CTS-XHP blade steel and while the only experience I have with this steel is in a couple Cold Steel knives I own I'm sure it will...
