Some guy: I purchased this knife as my first Spyderco and to be used as an everyday carry type knife. I looked at many pocket sized knifes suck at the crkt m16 line and a few others including the gerber evo jr. All in all I just wasn't really happy with those others knifes for different reasons. Also, to be honest I did want to try out spyderco. I picked the Cat because it is the cheapest knife spyderco sells in this size that is not part of their value folder line. I considered knifes out of the value folder line but decided on the Cat due to the overall design and the 440C steel. Right off the top this is a great knife. It is solidly built, came shaving sharp, and has held up wonderfully over a couple of months of almost daily carry. The blade is just about the right size for most of the things I need it for and it has a great tip and blade shape (plus the full flat grind) to open envelopes and what not. Now the blade is convex in shape which can make it a bit tricky to cut string and rope, although the knife is so sharp that the convex blade shape rarely comes into play. lightstream: This is it, I'll never need to buy another knife. That's not saying my obsession with Spyderco won't drive me to buy lots of other knives anyway (in fact already has). Spyderco knives imho are unsurpassed for quality of construction, materials used especially at the price points and design. I started my quest for the perfect pocketknife by trying to decide between a Spyderco Dragonfly or this knife, the Cat. Being a cat person I almost decided based on that, but I didn't, I agonized over it until I decided the Dragonfly would be the perfect knife for me. The thing that made me first notice Spyderco was the flat ground leaf shaped blade. It looked like the coolest, most useful blade shape I'd ever seen in a folder, almost like a parmesan knife or a small chef's knife. The Dragonfly FRN that I got was so unique I was ecstatic to have found such a perfect fit, but then I found myself longing for a slightly longer blade, more weight, different handle material. In other words, another Spyderco! (it becomes an addiction)

After a few new ones including a G-10 Dragonfly (and a Chaparral that I sent back), I remembered the Cat and thought I'd give that one a try. It was my new...
