I have now had installed for about 5 months and I am very pleased.
The lock/key did feel a bit rough, in spite of being new, but after 5 months of use in the elements, there is no struggle to open and close smoothly.
The mileage on my SUV did decrease by 1-3 MPG, depending on road conditions; I had expected more.
I was nervous about The mounting hardware because it looked flimsy as well as the overall structural integrity of the box. But again I'm pleasantly surprised the box shows no sign of loosening, it fits real well on my crossbars and the box remains solid.
I drive where it rains a lot, it keeps the contents dry.
Overall I'm glad I paid 40% of what the "big brands" charge, this box is definitely worth the money.

John Klassen: It’s good. Works well. A bit flimsy but it is a sports equipment carrier. Not meant for heavy cargo….

Craig Smith: The plastic casting broke in the same place on both hinges after fewer than 100 open / close cycles.
Amazon customer service tried to push me off to the manufacturer (Thule). When I refused to be pushed off, a customer service supervisor sent me a new one. Have only used the new carrier for a couple weeks before ski season ended, so durability remains questionable.
This box is a good size for my use (skis and poles). It holds 8 pairs of skis and poles, including one pair 207cm long.
Attachment to my square roof bars is a little fiddly but solid. Latch operates smoothly, has not frozen

Amazon Customer: Hi there,
I bought this last August 2019. Since i installed it, I felt regret not to message you right away that the key area wasn't soft enough to open using the key. I don't have time to return it because we went for a longdrive last August 2019 so i really need this carrier that time and until now.
I've opened it a few times but it seems the key area won't work well and there was a time that i need to use a plier tool to clip the key so that i can unlocked and locked it.
I am asking if there is a warranty? Or what is your advice for me?
I can send you a picture or a video while unlocking the carrier.
Please help
Thanks

Nancy: Here is how to make donning and doffing easier. Listen-up SportRack folks!
Purchase:
Six M6-1.0 nuts to fit the bolts provided in the kit. Four small velcro 'dots'. Two-sided tape (several inches).
1. Lift box onto vehicle
2. Open hatch and find desired forward/rearward mounting position.
3. Mark on the bottom of the box the forward holes needed to straddle the crossbars at each mounting point. I used masking tape. Tip: Square the box to the rear crossbar. Then mark the forward crossbar. This procedure ensures the box is aligned to the vehicle, instead of the vehicle's side rail.
4. For each of the four mounting points, slip one of the large plates into position and stick a bolt through the nearest forward hole. Verify the rear holes of the plate clear the crossbars.
5. Skip this step if the holes fit your crossbars. If not, tape the provided large plates in place where you need them. These will be your drilling templates in step 7. Note: For strength purposes, the new holes should not be too close to any other holes. Adjust as necessary to maximize material between holes. Recommend drilling any new...

Every Day Carry Gear and other reviewsEvery Day Carry Gear and other reviews: Great price - in comparison two lets say Thule.
Easy install - under 10 min assembly. I lifted it by myself onto my Ram 1500, but 2 peeps would have been easier.
They have a bolt hole, that allows for one side, once loose, to drop through it, you turn it and then you can take it off the rack, without having to unscrew the plates and bolts. (quick change if you wanna call it)
There are 6 or so holes on each corner - so it allows for some custom options where to place it, but in my case, I used to furthest out holes, and still had to put my bars closer together. No big deal.
I will show you pics, but I put in there, a double inflatable tube (rolled up comes to about 2 feet long by 10 inches diameter)
A gym bag with all our swim wear, towels, etc - a beach bag (inflatable air bed time) - 3 life jackets, 1 outrigger paddle, 5 pool noodles. a backpack water pack - a large RC Jeep, and a laundry bag - the size of a larger backpack (all the dirty laundry at the endow the trip)
IT could fit more, but you need to do some better compressing and packing. Ned to make sure nothing obstructs the locking mechanism - there are three, front back and middle where...

Coureur du Bois: This is a good light weight basic roof-top box. It weighs only 14 kg (30 lbs). Other boxes weigh considerably more. I wanted it to be easy to install and remove so that I would use it only when needed. Lighter weight means I can handle it alone easily. This box is somewhat flexible, requiring the user to be careful when opening or closing the lid, as it might twist in the process and damage the locking system. For me, this is not a problem - but it might be for others.
I am not impressed with the system for attaching the box to the car's cross-bars. The plastic snap connectors do not appear to hold the box firmly in position. I made some hard-wood blocks for the inside of the box and now route the u-bolts through the blocks and fasten the box securely with 10 mm nuts. I keep an old socket wrench with a long socket in the box for that purpose.
Also, a short wooden 2x4 block is helpful to temporarily support the u-bolts (especially the left side ones) when feeding them up through the box, prior to fastening them in position.
There are fancier boxes out there, but they are heavier and cost much more. With a few modifications, this now meets my needs very well

xalos1: This is the first roof cargo box I buy and also the first time I use one for a trip. MAN! AM I GLAD I BOUGHT IT AND HAPPY WITH IT!!! When I we decided to go on a 18 day family camping and road trip, I knew that the space inside my Acadia wouldn't be enough for a family of 5. 2 adults and 3 kids 13, 9 and 2yrs old.
When I started my search I researched the typical popular brands like Thule and Yakima, I almost had a heart attack when I saw the prices... it is ridiculous to think that someone would pay 400 to 800 bucks for a brand new "popular brand name" box and if you buy online, you can tack on another 100 to 150 freight shipping costs... Scratch that for now. Started searching classified sites, news papers and garage sales, but of course, people are expecting to get almost as much as what they paid for them also.
Then I decided to check out Amazon and when I did my search, for some reason this box did not appear, mainly the popular expensive boxes were listed... After about a week, I got one of the "you might like" type of emails from amazon and this box along with its other 3 sizes were listed, I was shocked to see such low prices. At first I thought maybe these...

Amazon Customer: I wanted a carrier that would also slow me to put my kayak on the roof of my Chrysler town and Country and this one does just that! I have ample room in this carrier to carry my folding chair, outdoor rug, a 4 person tent, extension cord, tarps, and more.
