Reva: Good short passages that have adequate complexity for the average beginning second grader to practice reading fluency, with opportunities for vocabulary expansion, and questions to check comprehension. I also have students write short summaries of the passages as a final activity.

Phipps: This book was recommended to me by the main teacher that oversees homeschool families at the charter school my daughter is enrolled through, and it is a perfect addition to her 2nd grade language arts curriculum. It starts out slow and simple, and slowly builds up. It encourages her to use her imagination, and she loves her writing curriculum!!!
