Tech RiderTech Rider: Update 8/22/23 - It turns out that I was able to tighten the vertical upright by removing a chrome-colored round sticker where the upright connects to the base and then use a philips screw-driver to tighten the friction of the vertical bar. It now holds the light from falling over when extended over the work area. I would update my rating to five stars except that I think the option to tighten this should be made available without having to remove the sticker.
There is quite a bit to like about this light, but the fatal flaw for me is that you can't extend the upright section of the light over your work area very far before the horizontal light bar simply falls down. The first picture shows the maximum angle the upright can hold up the light before it falls over as in second picture, which could easily damage the desk surface. The base seems plenty solid enough to support the light extending much further out so it seems like the manufacturer could have made the light extend to almost any angle without falling by just having a tension adjustment where the upright attaches to the base. Unfortunately I will be sending this back for a different model.
