The vet cone was clear and flexible, but difficult to get on. Put some velcro on it and it worked like a charm.

Amazon Customer: We needed this for nightly applications of medicated cream to his legs, face, and truck, all of which he had been diligently licking or rubbing off. At first, like any type of e-collar, it scared him motionless. Gave him lots of treats and he relaxed.
Once he got used to the idea he would act depressed each time it went on. I haven't tried one of those doughnut-type collars so I can't say if they're better, but this got the job done. It never came off, it wasn't noisy, and it kept him from licking.
The only drawback is the velco fasteners, which allow you to adjust the size but remain exposed: we woke up twice to find his head firmly stuck to his fuzzy old blanket. We switched that for a smooth cotton sheet and the problem was solved.

M. Glover: Our dog recently had surgery that will require him to be crate bound for 8 weeks. For the first two weeks he needs to wear an ecollar. We had to use the vets ecollar for the first two days so that he did not chew on a pain medication patch. (The Comfy Cone wasn't deep enough.) That hard plastic ecollar inside a plastic crate was really loud. I was so glad when we were able to remove the pain patch and put on his Comfy Cone. We've used it for both dogs and it works great. In fact, I just ordered another one so I can provide him with a clean cone every few days. Again, this product is quiet and comfy. Try it and you will see.

NM: This product was a total waste of money. I left my dog for a few hours with the collar on and when I returned, he had still managed to pull his bandage completely off his leg and lick his wound. I hope to be obtaining a full refund on the product.

Sun Devil #1 Fan: Bought the Large comfy cone because our medium size lab is a quite the terror with the hard plastic cone received from our vet. In fact, our vet has twice charged ~ the same price for the inferior plastic version. We highly recommend this product.
I think size large is probably perfect for most any size adult lab. For a younger dog (possibly being spayed), I would probably go with the medium. I wish we had this cone way back when.
