If your dog has stitches or an issue on the face/head, they can still rub against furniture or bed or floor and cause damage. Head issues need the plastic cone for best healing results.
My girl is having a small benign lump removed from her eyelid. They said the cone is a must but o know she would go ballistic in one of those- and this is the perfect solution. Lightweight, soft, floofy cover. This will work perfectly to help her recover quickly

NatNat: Doggo is very comfy with the donut. Likes to nap in it and while it does not prevent food intake it does a good job on avoiding the licking.

AMM: This is my second purchase of this item, the first one lasted five months, not as long as I hoped. My dog wears this every night because she has megaesophagus, this is a game changer for this illness and has definitely improved her life. It's soft and washes well.

Bradley Hill: Got it for my dog but it did not stop her from shewing at her surgery area.

datigz: My dog is petrified of the cone of shame. At first she didn't like this either, but after putting it on for a couple minutes at a time, and then her realizing she can use it as a pillow, she will now run over to get it put on when she sees it. My only complaint is the velcro strap doesn't line up with the velcro on the donut. My dog's neck is at the small end of the size I purchased, but the velcro on the strap only has an inch or so where it lines up with the velcro on the pillow. Most of the strap velcro extends well beyond where it would attach to the pillow part. A smaller size might line up better, but I don't know if the donut would fully close then. My dog is a contortionist and would use that gap (to get at the rash we are trying to keep her from licking), so it is important for the donut to close completely. Because the velcro doesn't match up, the collar is less secure than it could be. The extra bit of strap (about a foot) also hangs loose sice it doesn't attach to anything. This could be an issue for dogs that like to chew fabric (it is heavy nylon but that means nothing to large breed dogs), or dogs that try to chew on hoping to get out of the collar. Luckily it works...

Kim Raveling: I ordered this for my 60 Lb. Labrador mix who just had knee (CCL) surgery. She has a 18" neck measurement. The product was easy to inflate and seemed to be well-made. The collar straps to connect the pillow are key feature. Using advice from other reviewers I BOUGHT ONE SIZE UP (XL) since my dog's neck was in-between sizes and this was a GOOD CHOICE. Sizing was great- not too tight but also closed completely around my dog's neck. Easy to inflate by mouth but you must bite down on spout to open flap inside to allow air in.
Sadly, the pillow did not work for my dog's particular injury which is on the inside of her back leg from the knee joint down. She has long legs and all she needed to do was kick her leg out straight and position the pillow between her abdomen and leg and she was easily able to lick the bottom of her stitches. If the wound was a bit higher up on her leg or on her abdomen, this product would have worked fine. Also, if the pillow would have been a couple inches wider it would have worked . I will keep for just in case.

MoniqueMonique: I think the collar initially works out great.was easy enough to blow up as long as you pinch valve.Material seems thick enough to not rip if he tries to scratch at it which he did.Only reason for no 5 stars is that it did not keep him from licking his paws. Even blown max still able to lick paws sadly enough. He is a 98lb XL Bully 10months old. Not sure if that’s the issue but I guess I still have to find another one.

HBHB: There were many things I really liked about this inflatable collar. It is more functional allowing my dog to see more in her environment. The other types of cones were too restrictive, both in terms of my dog's ability to see and to move around. Typical cone styles get caught up on things such as the stairs while ascending, bushes, the ground etc. Those collars get dirty from dragging on the ground since they extend well beyod the neck. This inflatable collar has a lower profile, so sight lines are greatly improved as is their mobility. Yet, it completely does the trick of preventing biting, licking etc of body areas. It is easy to take on and off (velcro strap). The only downsides are the possibility of the dog managing to reach front legs/paws if they are gymnastic enough and have long limbs. The only other downside is that it is somewhat bulky, so I worried that laying down for sleeping might put too much pressure on the throat or windpipe. I would switch to the soft elizabethan collare for night time. Other than that, I would highly recommend this inflatable collar. My dog didn't mind this at all. It also looked rather cute!

Kindle Customer: I originally bought this because I have an escape artist who climbs up wire to get out of the iron fence in the back. It makes it impossible for her to squeeze through the bars above the 5 foot barriers I originally put in place and she doesn't get out of it when she is in back - but I also had the chance to use it for another's of my dogs after surgery. Much better than those cones. easy to put on, secure and take off. Getting it to inflate was a little difficult the first time. I just tried to blow into it and had to squeeze the nozzle a little lower than expected but once I found the spot - easy peasy. Chew Proof - I have 4 dogs - if they really wanted to chew through it - they could but they don't try and take it off the way they do with the cones nor do they try to butt it against me either. A definite recommend
