Smart 32-Amp Electric Vehicle Charging Station with WiFi and JuiceBox Technology

Sarah: I bought this product for its smart, wi-fi features, app, and ability to schedule at off peak times to save money. It worked well for about 40 days, and then suddenly stopped. The app froze and stopped working stating its smart charging features were "disabled" and the unit was offline. I called customer service and they informed me they were able to access my Juicebox unit remotely, and that they would remedy the problem within 24 hours. Of course this did not happen, at the next contact they informed me they were trying "migrate" information from apparently from older software to a more recent one? Even though my model was brand new? I started contacting them each day for a week and they told me they had "escalated' the issue to the a higher level team. I then inquired about a replacement or refund, but heard nothing more? At this point, I stopped inquiring to see if they would ever follow up? They did not, and never actually done so even though several weeks have passed. Once the unit smart charging features stopped working, it would still charge when you plugged it in but at a much lower rate, which took 5 times as long and because I could not schedule the charging time... N0L1B0: So if you have not heard, EV charger installations are burning up! It's not the chargers its the cheap $20 14-50R recepticals Amazon is selling us. The recepticals are fine for stoves and dryers but daily high amperage use to charge your car is too much for them. Google it! One solution is some high end 14-50R receptical made by Hubble, but it's $150! Plus you should get an expensive GFI breaker. Best to buy the hardwired charger and forget the plug, this way you won't need a GFI breaker either. Whats the downside? You won't be able to unplug it and take it to the cottage or where ever, I can't speak for you but I'd never do that anyway.

Frank: The only issue I had was connecting to Wi-Fi but a quick call to JuiceBox got me connected easily. So far everything is working as advertised.

Chad: I used a professional electrician to wire up the 220 outlet in the garage. From there it was a matter of plug n play. The app was fairly easy to set up, just a couple hiccups with the Wi-Fi stuff. Nothing major.

So far so good on charging and no other issues. Great product and love the quickness of getting a charge to my car over the 110 outlet. Night and day difference.

MARISA P SERANO: Bought this for at home charging of my EV. Literally it’s like two screws in the wall to install. We had to call tech support to connect it to wifi as the app kept crashing during install but other then that minor hiccup it works great. I’ve had it 2 months and have had zero issues. I love the longer cord and the wire easily fits under the garage door. It’s sturdy and doesn’t get damaged by it closing on it when car is charged outside the house. The app is easy to use and set timer and charging times. The cord is not easily hung neatly so after a week of trying to roll it nicely I just do two big loops and call it a day! I’m very happy with this charger and recommend it!!

MD2KNFMD2KNF: I got the plug-in version of Juicebox, and it was easy to install on the wall.

I had two issues:

1) I had arranged for the outlet to be installed prior to the Juicebox arriving, and when the Juicebox arrived the cord did not reach the outlet (which was directly above the Juicbox, see 1st photo, I know it looks like it reaches, but its like an inch or two short and you have to put a lot of stress on the cord to get it that close). This required me to call the electricians back and have them reroute the outlet to below the Juicebox, which ended up being an added expense. I talked to the customer service folks and they stated that UL required them to keep the cord a certain length, and that it used to be longer, so its not something they can help it appears. For what its worth, it would probably benefit from a future redesign where the cord can come out of the center of the box rather than the bottom, to ensure maximum capability to reach an outlet nearby, regardless of its location.

2) The "gun" part of the charger doesn't stay in the "holster". There's a small rectangular hole in the top of the "holster" for a hook on the "gun" to clip into (see 2nd photo). But...

Ron Scott: This charger is perfect for my Nissan Leaf. I bought a "pre-owned" 2015 Leaf a couple of months ago. It came with the usual "trickle charger" which takes a long time to charge. The best chargers are called "Level 2" and charge much faster. However, they do require a fairly hefty 240 volt circuit. I put in a 240 volt 40 amp circuit for my JuiceBox 32 and it delivers more than enough power to give the Leaf all the charge it can take. The JuiceBox has a handy app (iOs and Android) that lets you monitor, start stop, schedule the charge and more. If you just want to charge right away the app is not needed and you just plug it in to the car charge port and when the battery is fully charged, the JB shuts off. Just remove the charge cord, stow it and you are done. FWIW, I chose the JuiceBox because it was the highest rated in my searches for Level 2 chargers.
