A. MCGHIE: As the teeth are only on one side, this is not suitable for high limbs, rather just for branches you can reach so as to ensure the saw stays the correct way around against the wood. Otherwise a good product.

Amazon Customer: I bought this randomly one day thinking nothing of it. Jump a few days later where I'm trying to cut down a tree that is in a corner with 2 sides blocked by brick walls, with a chainsaw in need of an MOT i turn to the reliable hand saw! Within 1 minute of painful pinching, I threw the saw as far as I could when I remembered my new toy. I wrapped this handled blade around the tree with no effort and (unlike a hand saw) popped my foot against the tree and starting moving the blade. You can get so much more power behind it and use both sides of muscles along with all your body weight and... that tree came down instantly! Best buy of the year! Getting 5 more! Do the same.

Croydo: The chain cuts in both directions, but the teeth are only on one side of the chain.
I tried this on a low branch first about 5cm diameter. I was glad I did because the saw chain proved prone to jamming as the weight of the branch started to close the cut. I had to unwrap the chain from the cut to free it - if this had been a high branch it would still be up the tree! I had to finish the cut with a hand saw.
Using the saw with a long rope would make jamming more likely, unless you used two people spaced apart to try to keep the cut flat. Overall I was disappointed.

awesome: Definitely a learning curve. It's not an easy tool. But works good

G BG B: So my choices were to hire somebody, to put an extension ladder up against the tree or think of a DIY solution. So I came across this cool little guy and I quickly came up with the DIY solution.
I first took a roll of para cord rope and tied a small padlock to the end to get the para cord up and over the limb. I took two medium size ropes, and tied them to the ends of the hand chainsaw.
I put an eye hook into a tree on the other side of where I would be standing so that the hand chainsaw would not be in a U-shape, so the limb would not bind the chain as it started to come down.
Then I just pulled each rope. Wanted to time back-and-forth.
Worked like a charm.

Nathan Payne: I've used it at ground level and with ropes on the ends to cut high limbs. It works as well as anything else I've used. Like all the others it gets jammed in the kerf fairly often. It does cut aggressively and clears the chips well. It's nice that it cuts both directions. The two main options for pocket saws are chain based and cable based. The chain ones clear chips well but get stuck in the kerf. The cable ones don't get stuck but the abrasives get clogged and they quit cutting. Someone needs to come up with a new system that does both things well.
The way I get this one unstuck when it's in a high limb is to run the rope through a pulley and pull it with a come-along from the side. This has pulled it loose every time so far. The pulley is so that the chain doesn't come flying at me at 100mph when it comes loose.

Charles Sullivan: I felt compelled to give this product a 5 star review because the saw did exactly what it was supposed to do, and yes, the limb is down, but at what cost? I've lost the respect of my wife. My children will no longer look me in the eye. Whatever small shred of dignity I was clinging to has disippated much like the sawdust from an inadequate and awkwardyl trimmed branch. In my missplaced, nay, delusional determination to remove this stubborn protuberance, I did not account for the massive amout of user error that could be involved in the limb trimming process. Issues such as having the rope and saw repeatedly get caught in other branches, which required me to jerk and swing the rope around like an imbecile for 20 minutes to get it loose. Or the blisters on my hands from "sawing" at the limb for what seemed like an eternity, only to discover that I was making no progress because the saw blades weren't directed down into the branch, but rather merrily sawing away at the cool, October, afternoon air. I have been reduced to a shadow of my former self. An empty, sullen, husk of a man. I might have purchased a pocket chainsaw, but by the end of this endevour, friends, it was I who was...
