H.Tran: I recently installed the Skar Audio EVL-65 D2 6.5" 400 Watt subwoofer in my 2015 Lexus CT200h factory subwoofer box, and although I'm not experiencing its full potential, I can still appreciate its capabilities. Please note that my review is based on my specific setup limitations, but I believe this speaker has great potential when paired with the right amplifier.
First and foremost, the installation process was a breeze. The speaker fit perfectly in my factory subwoofer box, making it a seamless upgrade. The build quality of the Skar Audio EVL-65 D2 is evident, with its sturdy construction and durable components. It is clear that this speaker is built to last.
Now, onto the sound. Due to the limitations of my car's factory amplifier, I'm only able to hear a fraction of the bass that this speaker is capable of producing. However, I believe the issue lies with my car's power output rather than the speaker itself. Despite the limited bass response, I can still perceive the potential that lies within the Skar Audio EVL-65 D2.
Considering the value for money, this speaker offers a solid investment. While I'm unable to fully exploit its capabilities, I recognize...

S. Duran: This fit in the factory box for a Honda Element. You will need to drill some new holes in it to line up with the box but that's not a big problem. You'll also need to extend the wires coming out of the box because what's there isn't long enough. Again fairly simple. However to do this right the box will need some mods. The Element box is ported and this speaker needs a waaay bigger box if it's going to be ported so you really need to seal up the box. The box is 2 pieces and it's not air tight so you need to seal the seam however you like I used RTV but you could use any number of sealants. Then you'll want to seal up the port. It a weird oval shape so I stuck a piece of high density foam in there then a fat layer of jb weld on top. Last you'll want to fill the box with poly fil. All this will net you a noticable upgrade. Not huge by any means but the bass is tighter and there's less distortion especially at higher volumes compared to the stock sub. Worth doing for the $65. But keep your expectations reasonable. This won't transform it into some booming bass monster.

Conrad: So after trying to replace the blown stock sub with a cheap alternative (pyle plg64) and having it go up in smoke in less than a week, I decided to find a beefier alternative. First impression is that this speaker appears to be built well. I thought the tiny amp in the ProMedia didnt have a chance to move this speaker. I tried wiring the 2ohm dvc in series and parallel. at 1ohm, it was super distorted but the klipsch amp had no problem powering the sub for the short time i tried it. It probably would fry the amp over time, but i was curious how it wouldve worked. It was basically a rattle machine all the way down to 1/4 turn on the bass knob
At 4ohms, i felt it probably wasnt as loud as the factory sub, but it also doesnt sound like a loud fart rattle at max volume like the stock speaker did. It does seem to go lower though. But the real beauty is that at max volume, it doesnt seem to have any problem handling the power like the factory sub. Overall, i think it probably sounds a little smoother. I cant do a side by side comparison, but i really like this as an option for replacement. It murders the pyle plg64 which did get better after it broke in but never came close to...

Cesar Elias Bonfilio Ortiz SanchezCesar Elias Bonfilio Ortiz Sanchez: The media could not be loaded.

Hanna1836: I really don't have anything bad to say about . The build quality is very good given the price point, cast basket, very stout terminals, cone and suspension are very high quality. I built a small .28cf sealed enclosure and filled it with polyfill, dual 2 ohm coils wired in series and ran with 150 watts RMS off of a bridged channel of a Audiocontrol ACX300.4 marine amplifier. Bass output was surprisingly tight with good low end to around 45hz where it started to drop off, what I would expect for a 6.5" in a small sealed enclosure. If you have the room go with a .38 to .45cf ported enclosure, the efficiency would increase and you would get more output in the 45-50hz range.
For the value, you can't ask for more. The only reason I gave it a three star ratting for SQ was comparing it to subs like the JL 6W3 and similar subs costing 5 times as much, value it gets five stars.
