Jimmy Fairchild: It is my go too stereo receiver and it has been since I bought this (years ago). The actual 'phono' input on this unit was the selling point. It has managed the complete digitization of a large LP collection as well as many hours of LP playing. Grreat sound quality through a very good sound system.

Mark Christian: If you are an old guy like myself then chances are you have a home surround sound system, a really nice audio setup for your home computer and of course a lot of rack audio components left over from your younger days when everyone built up their own systems piece by piece (now I just plug a USB cable from my Bose 5.1 into my asus desktop and it was done). I my case my trusted Sony receiver died back in 2012 after 30 years of faithful service leaving my dual cassette deck, five disk CD changer and turntable high and dry. Although the Sherwood won't match the old Sony it does offer a chance to get those old components back on line and it does a good job at a reasonable price. Speaker connections are with binding post which a lot of folks don't like but I prefer them to RCA pins or spring clips. I am running two sets of book shelf speakers and a 10 inch powered sub woofer and it can handle them all and deliver good stable sound. As a tuner the AM reception is very good but FM reception is just awful. The little four foot wire antenna attaches to the receiver with a F-Type coax connector meaning that Sherwood probably expects your to connect the receiver to a cable jack but in my...

Danielle L. Beauchamp: I bought this receiver to replace a 30 year old one and chose this model because it was recommended by another Amazon customer. It is compatible with older model turntables. Everything works and sounds extremely well, I just find it could be a little more user friendly. The controls on the remote seem unusual to me and difficult to see without my reading glasses! I also miss the tuning dial on my old unit. I still do find it is still a good value.

pneiland: Had a couple of issues when I hooked everything up but that turned out to be me. Actually helped to read the manual. I have a turntable and a 5 disc CD player that never sounded good on my home theatre system. Much better on this on.

Shari Boyd: It doesn't seem to be very easy getting receivers anymore what with Ipods and such so when I found this with much searching a reviewed the information on it and decided to give it a try. I am glad I did. The receiver is great, easy to use and the sound is clear and to me has quality. We had been using various "boombox" style machines as we were unable to purchase a receiver through many stores that we visited in our area, MP3's and Ipods seem to be what is mostly used and sold these days but we needed a receiver and thankfully we found this one online. I would recommend it to anyone.

cmagoocmagoo: I'm very satisfied with the unit. While not as fancy as some, this receiver produces clean sound through out the volume range. Some receivers have more watts per channel, so unless you're wanting to annoy your neighbours with deep bass, this gives enough range on bass and treble for most people. The remote is easy to use and provides access to all the needed functions. The display is easy to read, even from across the room. So overall a great unit at this price.

Richard Kennedy: I bought the Sherwood RX 4109 receiver to replace an aging 'compact' system we used in our kitchen/dining area. I wanted something with a good FM section and the power to drive a medium-sized set of bookshelf speakers effortlessly. The Sherwood handles both tasks superbly.

Not only does it have better and more sensitive FM reception than my old system, it has more than ample wattage and produces excellent quality sound, regardless of whether I use the receiver's FM section or run an external WIFI Internet tuner. It has enough power reserve to blow the windows out and I've tried!

My favorite Internet station is Organlive.com and the Sherwood has enough guts to produce fundamental pipe organ pedal notes throughout my house...a pleasant surprise I was not prepared for. Regardless of how hard I push it it remains lukewarm to the touch, and I usually leave it playing all day long.

My only gripes (small ones) are the way Sherwood configured the tone controls and tuning. I'm "old school" and would prefer a rotary tuning knob and rotary tone controls, whereas Sherwood chose to use a system of pushbuttons. I assume this is a cost-savings effort, and truthfully, once I...
