T. Horst: We have three of these and they definitely detect EMF. We've been considering getting a more expensive unit just to test the ones we have against, but to be honest with these we haven't seen a need yet.

Proudmommabee: This item is better than many other generic EMF meters that only have a few LED's to show intensity.
If you put the meter near an electric item it will show you the electromagnetic levels that you are being exposed to.
It worked great for checking the seal on my microwave oven when it was running too. Got hazardous warning levels from that one.

Mr. Gadget: I've tried 2 other EMF detectors and this one did the job.
1) No rechargeable, battery operated: I don't use this too often but when I need it after a while, I should be able to just pop in a set of AAA batteries and use it immediately without having to recharge it.
2) This EMF detector has an easy to remove battery door without having to use a special screwdriver like the previous model I purchased. Why is there a need for a screwdriver to replace the batteries is beyond me!!!
3) Buzzer could be turned on or off, the previous model I bought always had the annoying blaring buzzer that could not be turned off!
4) Reading seemed to be accurate compared to the first model I bought but returned due to rechargeable battery.
