This is not my first set of NRS straps - I have purchased them off an on for more than 10 or 15 years, and I keep coming back to NRS for their quality build and durability - I learned to do this again this last week. The pics below show a 15’ NRS strap buckle from a set I purchased a couple months ago next to one from a cheap multi-pack bargain set that I bought this week to try out . The other brand’s buckle weight is 1/3 that of the NRS. The weight of strap and buckle is half the weight of the NRS strap. The ‘bargain’ strap is thinner, stretches a bit, and the stitching is a total joke comparatively. You can barely see the box pattern stitch on the cheap one in the photo because you can barely see the stitching when you hold it in your hand. There is no way I would ever trust my kayak, canoe, bikes or other cargo to the bargain brand - and the quality is such that I don’t trust them to hold up at all over time. The NRS straps I have owned have all put in thousands of miles hauling thousands of dollars of my prized possessions.
