Carl: Needed something to keep my plants alive. Seems to work ok and is safe to use when fish are present.

LH MuellerLH Mueller: Bought this here because it is a much better buy than at the pet stores. I ran out of a different brand of fertilizer tablets and tried this one. These are much easier to get into the substrate than the others that would begin desolving as soon as you plunged them in the water.
I am really not sure though if they provide the right nutrients because without any other changes to my small tank maintenance and lighting the amazon sword plant keeps melting and becoming smaller. I keep trimming the rotten leaves so that the tank ammonia won't spike. It is the plant in the back center. My last photo is from 6 months ago when that plant reached way above the wood in the tank.
The anubias on the left side of the tank is doing quite well, but it has substantial roots above the substrate collecting nutrients. I think I may have to go back to my old plant food.

Randy Garrity: I can't say that my plants are doing great do to just this one product. But it one of the 5 things a plant needs. And if they didn't work my plants couldn't look as good as they all do. And these don't fall apart once in the water like the plant tabs I was using These seem to be made to dissolve at a much slower pace like they're supposed to. I haven't had any Seachem products to date that I didn't like and maybe a lot. Like there substrate. That comes in water ready to use and no rinsing for a long bad time like the fluvial brand that was loaded with dirt. That stuff was unreal for dirty. So buy Seachem with confidence.

Heather L.Heather L.: I set the tank up about a little less than 2 months ago for Amazon Puffers. I used 2 bags of Quikrete sand for the sunstrate.

I've worked with fish for over 30 years and Seachem has always been a highly trusted brand.

The fist pic was when I first set up the tank, the wood was still floating. I did add some more plants, but they were as small as the ones in the picture. It still looked very sparse.

Pro tip: a lot of plants sold in the aquarium trade are air plants (ie houseplants). You may see a giant Purple Waffle on the left and in a few other spots. I bought that plant, it was huge, from Lowes for $5.99. I broke it up into 4 or 5 plants. The stores sell a few sprigs of it for $10.

The next pic is from today. Yeah.

There is a Youtube video comparing different root tabs (different brands and DIY tabs) and Seachem came out on top with plants that were 2x the size of the others.

Shane: I have read all of the bad reviews here where people state the product is poison, it changes their water parameters, makes their fish sick, kills their shrimp etc.

I have been using these tabs for a long time now, in all of my tanks. The tank sizes range from 300lt down to 30lt nano tanks and even a 12lt bowl with rice fish and shrimp in it with no filtration (the substrate and plants are the filter), all of which have live plants, all of which I also use liquid fertilizer for the water column along with these root tabs. I have never had any issue with sick fish, water hardness or any other bad water parameters. All my fish are thriving, all my plants are thriving. most of the tanks have shrimp in them as clean-up crew, all of which are thriving, shedding/growing and breeding like mad, in fact I have had to invest in another tank just for shrimp I now have that many, and yes this tank has live plants and the use of these root tabs and liquid fertilizer as well, and again the shrimp are breeding like mad.

I have never had an issue with them, admittedly I do cut them in to halves and quarters for the smaller tanks, but zero problems with fish, shrimp or water...
