Schwinn Airdyne Exercise Bike: Cardio Workout for Total Body Fitness

Tracy: This bike is sturdy and very smooth during use. I have used other bikes in gyms and this has been my go trite one to use. It i easily adjusts to make it comfortable. You can use it for short interval training and get a surprisingly good workout in 5 minutes or use it in between sets of other exercises to really keep your heart rate up. If you want to put in minimal effort you can ride for extended periods but this is not like a regular bike or a peloton. This is more for short hard high intensity workouts

Greg DowningGreg Downing: Quiet, built well. Packaging was very durable and all parts were in perfect condition when delivered.
I wish the display had the ability to change the time out which is 5 minutes then the display resets/turns off. I ride for 10 minutes, then do a round robin workout and come back to the unit after 5 minutes has gone and I need to start the display counter over. The way I keep track of the total amount of elapsed time is a separate stopwatch (see pic). If the display was programable to time out 0-99 minutes I would be able to keep track of the totaled displayed info, time, distance, cals etc... The display has no backlight so I use an LED to illuminate the display (see pic). I would also like the option of having a stackable bracket that bolts to where the water bottle sits to have a Kindle, cell or small display to use when exercising.
Early on I heard a rubbing/squeaking noise. I took the side panels off and the main drive pulley (toothed belt one) was rubbing on the inside of the pulley which was not aligned. Ronald SousaRonald Sousa: The bike was well packaged and the box was in perfect condition upon arrival. Assembly was very straightforward. I did have an issue with one of the cables that connect the display panel falling inside the frame. This was a real pain in the butt and almost ended with the bike being returned but I was able to fish it out of the frame and complete the assembly. Once assembled I was very impressed with the build quality. Very solid, doesn't move around at all, even with me going as hard as I can. I'm a big guy and I can honestly say this thing is a solid as my commercial Lifefitness bike and my Stairmaster freeclimber. Kudos to Schwinn for creating a serious bike that will hold up under intense use.
That being said, it is extremely smooth in use. The belt drive is very direct with no driveline lash or noise. The handlebar arms are made of heavy gauge steel and are very solid with no free play or slop at all. The display is very intuitive and easy to use, with all information available at a glance. I really like the speedometer setup as it's easy to read and leaves a hash mark at the highest recorded speed which is very helpful. I only wish the display was...

Harmony K.: Just writing down my first impressions, while they're fresh... I will update this review later, once I've used the bike more.

The bad news first...

You do need two people to assemble it. It says so in the manual, and you should listen to it. I assembled it all on my own, and my back is sore now. The largest piece in the box weighs about 40 Kg.

It raises a lot of dust in the air. You have to keep the home very clean to use this thing. If you've got carpet, it's probably best to avoid air bikes. Luckily, I got rid of all carpet long ago so it's not a big problem.

At high speeds there's a lot of air moving around and that makes some noise.

The air flow can scare the pets at first. My cat ran to the other end of the apartment and hid under the covers.

The seat is not very comfortable.

The good news...

I was able to assemble it all by myself in less than an hour, and it doesn't have any of the issues reported in other reviews. No clicks or loose parts. It seems to work perfectly.

It even has the air diverter that other air bikes lack. That is, I don't get a lot of air in my face while using it.

Stephen Casburn: I've had this airdyne for over a month now and I've been using it for HIIT (20 seconds all-out intensity 10 seconds rest) and it hasn't disappointed me at all. First of all, this airdyne arrived in great condition, it was easy to assemble as the instructions are very easy to understand and there isn't much parts to assemble the airdyne. When I first got on the airdyne to do my intervals, I was gasping for air within the first 5 minutes and my thighs felt like they were going to explode. The resistance the fan offers is tough and I guarantee that your quads will feel like mince meat the next day. As far as the airdyne goes, it is very sturdy as it doesn't wobble around when you're on it and it also has adjustable feet for uneven surfaces. The parts are very sturdy and versatile and I have inspected the belt and bearings multiple times after use with no signs of extreme wear. Personally, I didn't think this airdyne was up to the task of HIIT, but I was wrong which makes this airdyne ideal if you are on a budget.

J. RockJ. Rock: This is a pretty long review, but is based on several months' use. If you're just window shopping, your time may well be better spent elsewhere. But if you're thinking of investing almost $600 for this item, read on, you will learn a lot!

I bought this several months ago, and purposely waited before making any kind of evaluation on it. It's heavy, and you will need help to move it from place to place. But it is so SOLID, a very good feel. Even if you never use the height adjustors, this thing will never vibrate or rattle and is completely noiseless except for moving air in the fan. I don't like the look of the casing around it, so I simply removed it and have had no problems, it looks great now. There is a slight risk of something getting caught in the belts, but I have two dogs and they always stay clear of this thing. Some folks have had issues with the saddle, but it is very durable and it's comfortable for me. You do have to really tighten the seat nuts and bolts A LOT - with a ratchet, not just a wrench. Otherwise the seat will feel unstable and you might feel like you're falling forward or backwards. Short people have problems reaching the...
