Duane A. Priest: I love these Schalge locksets and use them exclusively throughout my home. As one who suffers with carpal tunnel issues, I find that the lever action door handles are much easier to operate than the old "ball" style knobs. The Latitude product line is sleek, contemporary and functional in design, which is exactly in keeping with the design of my home.
Installation of the lock took about 5 minutes tops... this is as easy as installing the strike plate (2 screws,) the latch mechanism (2 screws,) and the handles (2 screws.) The latch is secure and works great.
A word of caution to users of this and similar locksets... check to make absolutely certain the door is locked or unlocked as is appropriate when closing the door. This lock will always open from the inside, whether it's locked or not. Too often users will close the door, only to find that it's locked from the outside. This has happened to me once. I understand that the idea is to ensure that anyone can safely exit the building without fumbling for locks in the event of an emergency, but it does require that you check the status of the lock by testing the exterior handle before you close the door.
