Instructor Too: This is a well made privacy lock that was used to replace an entrance door lockset that did not need to be keyed. The latch action is smooth, the lever handle depresses easily, and it appeared that the interior of the lock (the locking mechanism) had been coated with a graphite lubricant of some kind.
The lever handle on the lockset is 4 - 1/2 inches in length (11.43cm) overall and for our application we had to remove a short section from the length of one lever handle. We soon discovered that the lever handles are not tubular and hollow, they are what appears to be solid anodized aluminum. It took close to three minutes or more to cut a section off the lever handle's length using a new (relatively fine cutting) metal cutting blade in a corded electric reciprocating saw! The aluminum used on these levers is hard and solid.
After the lever handle was reduced in length the lockset worked perfectly and we expect to get many good years of service from this solid and well made "Amazon Basics" product.
