Sophie: A gift, they loved it

William Bingham Gordon: Iwata is one of the few leaders who excelled as a doer before becoming an executive. Wisdom, values and high EQ are apparent. I love that his predecessor Yamauchi preached “shocks” and that Miyamoto always tried to find single solutions to multiple problems. Love to see gamer wisdom spread broad.

Joshua Naprstek:
What I like about Ask Iwata is that it talks about the people behind some of Nintendo's games and platforms. I have played on the Nintendo DS and Wii and have also played Super Smash Bros. Melee, Brain Age, and Pokemon Snap. Satoru Iwata helped develop those games I just mentioned.
Great book, I am happy with my purchase and had fun reading it.

A diagramação do livro é primorosa: a capa dura minimalista é linda demais.

Utente AmazonUtente Amazon: By reading this book I found what I can consider an idol to me. The book gives a well-done recap on how the late Satoru Iwata viewed his work on videogames from every point of view. In my opinion, it gives a defined view on his mindset. For me it was one of my greatest buys in terms of books :)

The Prez:
Ask Iwata is a cohesive and easy-to-ready compilation of business advice given by former CEO of Nintendo Satoru Iwata, who passed away in 2015. In the book, Iwata touches briefly upon how he never had an intention to write an autobiography or anything of the sort so this book, in addition to his archived and documented interviews with "Iwata Asks" and other websites, is as close to we can get to hearing Iwata's own words about his life in the video game industry.
There are very few people I have grown to truly respect in the corporate world; Iwata is right at the top for me. In the book, you hear stories about how he first became a programmer and developer at HAL Laboratories to then becoming appointed President of Nintendo. The book is split into several short chapters with various interview snippets, quotes, and documentary language provided by Iwata in previous interviews that are arranged thematically. In short, Iwata's life is nothing short of mesmerizing. He was a true genius in his practice and his experience in the programming world gave him an invaluable perspective on what it takes to solve problems, tackle complex scenarios, and understand what...

Drewz:
This book is a simple, heartwarming and, at times, a sad read.
Through Nintendo Directs, a lot of us felt like we got to know Satoru Iwata. It was truly a sad day when he passed. The Nintendo Directs, which Mr. Iwata often hosted, stopped almost immediately. The presentations have yet to return in the same spirit.
The impression I got from watching Nintendo Directs, was the Satoru Iwata was an incredibly humble man who managed to hold onto his inner child despite having grown to manage the most iconic gaming company of all time. This book reaffirms that impression. In it, we learn of Mr. Iwata's early love of making others smile.
I grew up playing a lot of HAL Laboratory games, but had no idea who Satoru Iwata was. I was a child. It was not until he became the President of Nintendo that I learned that he was a programmer on a lot of games I love including Earthbound and Pokemon Snap. Satoru Iwata was a hardworking soul who truly believed in the unity of video games in an age where many adults saw them as a waste of time.
This book is not an autobiography and I expect that some will find this frustrating. However, this is instead a...
