Get the most out of your grilling experience with the George Foreman by Russell Hobbs 18471 4-Portion Family Grill. The Pick: It works well and seems really solidly built. As advertised, the fat from the food all slides down and collects in the tray in the front. Note that if you try to make eggs on this thing they'll fly right off the front and go all over your pants! Regardless, I'm eating steaks, and grilled sandwiches all the time now. It's a bit tricky to clean, but a Teflon-approved sponge and a brush do the trick.

Mark ChisholmMark Chisholm: Back in the mists of time I remember in school assembly the headmaster – this was back in the early 70’s so no ‘headperson’ stuff – taking excitedly about the fight between George Foreman and Muhammed Ali. Even today a lifetime ago I recall the hubbub surrounding this.
And then to an extent life went on and I forgot all about George Foreman until he hit the small screen and what seemed like every kitchen in the land.
Of course, we all assumed it would be another rubbishy bit of kitchen tat that gets dumped ASAP but no. Here we are many years later and good old George Foreman is still fronting his sarnie grills.
And with good reason, because despite my initial scepticism they are, in a nutshell, bloody brilliant.
I bought a couple of small ones when they first came out which, were probably much more expensive than this far larger one I have now. I used them loads of times and still do because they work so well at doing chicken breast wrapped in bacon. Mmmm. Even now as I write this I find myself somewhat hungry at the thought.
Of course, they can do far more than a bit of chicken and genuinely do work as a healthy means of cooking...

Random Buyer: We ordered this 240v because we live in Germany and didn't bother to check the plug. It's 240v only with an UK plug not Germany.

Graham Anderson: What can I say?
It's a George Foreman grill and it is the first time I have ever even used an electric grill. I wish I had used them years ago.
You can use the drip tray to either catch the fat that comes from fatty burgers or meat of any type or you can flip it upside down to make the grill level if you just need it for a toasted sandwich or if you want to retain the juices.
I buy my chicken from Musclefoods" online and their meats are always delicious and no added salt or water.
I do like the way the fat just pours from the cheap burgers (Birdseye) which are always full of water and fat, they end up less than half the size you started with. The George Foreman grill is fine for cooking these.
But I do not buy Supermarket meat as it is always full of salt for preserving and water to make them look bigger (especially the Chicken).
If you use this grill then I would seriously urge you to go to an online meat company (Butcher) or use who I do (Musclefoods) as these I find are absolutely wonderful and they will deliver in a sealed cool bag (silver Bubbly thing) and will have special ice packs which you get to keep too.
Anyway the George Foreman grill is a must...

tugrultugrul: I purchased this grill after a long research. It came as next day delivery and was inside an amazon box. Packaging was very good.
Looking at the product pictures I was expecting a bigger gril but it is okay. It is very light weight so you can easily move/carry.
4 portion grill really depends on your definition of portion. I think you would be able to fit 3-4 chicken breast or 2 Sirloin Steaks from tesco .
There is a user manual inside the package which comes in different languages. For the first time I cleaned the plates with a wet dishing cloth and then spread some olive oil to the plates by a kitchen towel as it was instructed in manual.
Before getting started
- After you plug it light on top lids yellow. You should wait until it is off which means `I`m ready to cook`
- Dip tray needs to be places center front of grill
- And any time you open the grill plates use an oven glove
Cooking Experience
I placed a steak.horizontally. Manual suggested 4-7 minutes. I waited for almost 8 minutes.Near to the end I also placed hellimi pieces
If you look at the pictures , top of the steak was not cooked as it cooked in center to bottom. It is...

Tom: Good for it price although be warned it is very small. The picture of it with food on it not realistic. If you have had old el paso wraps, the small ones, that fits on if you put it diagonally (if it's rolled up). Definitely wouldn't fit a lunch-for-one on it all in one go. Works well with tin foil to save you having to clean it - would still advise you use oil or butter as instructed in the manual. It tells you not to use foils or cling film, I don't know why, people on youtube do it, and it saves you buying those disposable bags that a lot of people combo with this grill. Made a number of really nice cheese toasties on it (added extra minutes because of the foil, 4 min total), cooked a chicken breast on it - tasted nice. Another problem though is it is at quite a slant and the grip of the grill surface is not great so things do slide down. My tin-foil cheese toasties slide so I have to hold it and close the lid on it (being very careful of my hands in the process). The sliced apple recipe they suggest also slides down, and so do red pepper slices. Heats up fairly fast, at least 2 minutes.
Build quality - when I first opened the lid I was like, ew horrible build quality...

red0209: I've previously owned the George Foreman Dual Knockout Grill, which truly is a family-sized grill. Describing this one as such is probably being a little creative with the truth, unless of course you are a family of two with small appetites! The surface of the grill is approximately 19cm x 19cm, although not quite square. Both the top and the bottom plates heat up, so you can cook both sides of the food at the same time. The plates are at a much steeper angle than the larger George Foreman grill that I had previously, so certain food items may be prone to sliding off if not thick enough to be compressed between both plates. As usual with these sort of grills, applying a small amount of oil before cooking helps to prevent sticking. When it comes to cleaning, this is best done straight away when the grill is still warm otherwise food residue will be harder to remove. The drip tray is a little small and flimsy, but just about suitable. There is no temperature control, the grill is either on or off, so you have to be careful to avoid burning things that cook quickly. There is also no timer that you get on some of the larger George Foreman grills. I don't think that you can expect an...
