Chriceous R.: I have a Royal Alpha 1100ML. The cord has a serial port and a USB. The cash register doesn't have a USB, it has a serial port. I'm assuming and working on the details about hooking this to my computer using the USB part of the cord to more easily program the cash register. But that is not necessary to use it on the cash register.

Mike W.: The scanner works fine if your cash register accepts data at 9600 bps. The scanner I received looks slightly different than the one pictured, making me believe Royal changed who they buy them from. As such, the manual with instructions on how to change the bit rate doesn't seem to apply to this scanner. Other cash registers need data at 4800 bps. This scanner will not work with them unless you can change the configuration. Otherwise, it appears to be a quality product.

Johnnie Martin: Bought this for the owner of a small store, near me. He needed a scanner with the 9 pin connector. The data says it will work on two models. Called Royal an they stated it will work on any of their cash registers with the 9 pin connector. Store owner did not read the activating instructions and could not get it to work. I read the three line activating instructions-scanned the bar code on the instructions-and the scanner immediately starting working. Scanner works as advertised...
