Carl J Mann: The ballast works really well and quick. The only difficulty with installation was the removal of one of the assemblies that connects/holds the bulbs. The previous ballast was not electric, and the assembly had to be pried out of the fixture to disconnect the original wiring.

BadgenesBadgenes: Simple instruction: Remove EVERYTHING that's old - wires and ballast. Orient new ballast such that hot and neutral wires are within reach of the incoming feed. If this procedure is followed, all wires of the new ballast will be of sufficient length.

Eric Lewis: This is not a "plug" replacement but the wiring changes are easy to make If you are familiar with wire strippers, pliers, wire nuts, and reading wire schematics. A fluorescent ballast connects to the fluorescent tubes in parallel while the electronic ballast connects in series. It may be easier if you have on hand some long (~8') lengths of #20 solid wire or a few extra wire nuts. There is enough wire in total in the original configuration, but some of it might need to be redistributed in the conversion from parallel to serial. (Please note: My characterization of "serial" and "parallel" may not be the best "wiring guide". The included schematic is the way to do it and is easy to interpret.)

Diane and Virg: The ballast worked fine after I installed it as directed by the Amazon Community. The directions on the ballast are insufficient. Instead of one wire to each end of each bulb as shown in the diagram, you need two. I do not understand why since both go to the same contact point at the end of my one pin/end lamp. I just know that it did not work with only one wire. (It’s possible that the connectors on my lamp are so flimsy that one did not connect properly. With two, the odds of a good connection are better.)
Since my old lamp had flimsy connectors that did not always hold the wires securely, I used hot glue near the contacts to keep them from pulling out.
I am giving this product only 4 stars but only for inadequate directions. Fortunately, the community help filled the gap but it took some time to get all questions answered.
You may be confused by the pin count. Some refer to a 2-pin/end lamp as 2-pin; some call it 4-pin since there are 4 pins/lamp. If you are not an electrician talking to an electrician, do not assume you communicate unambiguously.

mcs79: Replaced an old magnetic ballast with this one in an 8 ft dual bulb T12 fixture. Wow! I cannot believe how much brighter the light is now, compared to the other identical fixtures in my garage. If you are replacing an old magnetic ballast, be aware that you will have to attach the wires differently, but it's very simple and the wiring diagram is printed right on the ballast.

Basically, just attach the blue wires individually to the two lamp-holders on one end, then attach both of the lamp-holders on the other end to the red wire by twisting the wires together. The black and white wires attach directly to your 120 volt feed...don't connect the 120v feed directly to the lamp-holders as you would with your old magnetic ballast. You will need a few wire nuts! Not sure why others have complained about the length of the wires, as I had PLENTY of wire to make the connections. When you remove your old ballast, simply clip the old wires close to the old ballast and re-use the existing wires leading to the lamp-holders, assuming the wires are still in good shape.

I'm ordering two more of these for my garage. If your fixtures are in good shape, this is a pretty cheap fix....
