Rit DyeMore Liquid Dye in Racing Red for Vibrant Color Results

Savvy Shopper: Most synthetic fabrics will not dye with tradition dyes. You need a dye specifically for synthetic materials, such as this one.

PROS:
Great color strength. Little to no bleed if properly used. Easy to do in a top-load, full water washing machine, or on the stove top in a Stainless Steel pot (follow included directions).

CONS:
I do not consider this a product drawback or a negative, but you should note that this (or any dye) is not good to use in a front-load or low water washing machine.

COMPS:
As compared to tradition dyes or many other brands of synthetic dyes I have tried, this dye does a better job.

VERDICT:
Good value for money. I can get many craft or home decorating projects done with a single bottle of this highly concentrated dye.

VicNate69: All I did was follow the manufacturer's instructions on the bottle (which parenthetically arrived fully intact and complete) and I am truly happy to report what was (for me at least) a best-case-scenario, PERFECT outcome with 'racing red'. Well done Rit® - please keep up the good work. I am very confident to highly recommend this dye to anyone who is capable of following simple, stepped instructions.

Allan D: Colors realy good but turns out flat, washed out like. But it colors viscose and acrylic real good. Maybe there is a finish product to make it less fad

T & L Furche: This is very labor intensive to use. Its not the old time RIT dye thats been around forever. You MUST use the stovetop. I went to Walmart and bought a 25 quart stock pot for $10 because you can't use a normal sized pot. I dyed a white blouse red. After an hour on the stove stirring I still only got a medium pink color. Will try another batch. Eventhough I stirred the fabric constantly and kept it moving I still ended up with spots where the dye was darker. Before washing the shirt I put some Dawn detergent on the spots and scrubbed a bit and the excess dye disappeared.

Mike: This review is for anyone who likes custom EDC knives like me. I died my Spyderco Manix 2 lightweight in Maxamet steel. It turned out quite well. Not as red as I would have liked but that’s because the knife was a medium grey before so there was only so much the dye could do. It turned it to like a rust red. The dye worked well. Process was very easy even with a knife that can’t be taken apart. If you have a knife that can be disassembled I’d take the scales off first but it worked well without me doing that as well. I love that this worked and I will purchase more rit dye in the future to dye other knives.

devilchick: Used it to dye some bras which were white but had gone in with a darker towel accidentally and had left them a grey that wouldn't budge.
Put it in the washing machine with a pump of dish soap and used the whole thing.
Ran a wash on the 95 degrees cotton cycle and added an extra rinse at the end.

Absolutely no issue at all. So easy. Way easier than standing over a stove for an hour. The red took really well to the lace overlay and the straps, the cups underneath are a much lighter red which looks great!
They look so much better!

A lot of complaints I'm seeing are folks who are anticipating block colour over multiple fabric types. Different fabrics will hold colour differently. It worked really really well, they look fantastic, like new, it was super easy.

Would def buy again.

CNMCCCNMCC: When I read the reviews I noticed someone used their washing machine because they didn't have a stainless steal pot. Neither do I , so I thought I would give it a shot on my bathing suit. I realize the red could have been a little different, but I didn't mind seeing that it came out how I wanted it to. When I bought the bathing suit it was advertised as a ruby red color. It came and it was a washed out orange/red. I wanted to get the orange tone out. Although subtle, you can see that this product did just that.

Anne S.: I used it to dye faded red stretch jeans, after regular cotton dye attempt turned out patchy. I did have to wear gloves when handling, stay near stove for over an hour, and use bleach to clean up any splashes after, but the product worked! The jeans are a bright cherry red, just as I wanted. The directions were clear. Use a REALLY HUGE POT for something big like jeans. They really have to swish. Wear old clothes you don’t mind getting dye and cleaning bleach on!

R. HoonR. Hoon: This stuff really works! As you can probably guess, I used it to dye my acetate screwdriver handles red, and these are the results from just following the instructions on the bottle and suspending the handles in the dye. The screwdriver handle on the left was originally clear with blue stripes that were dyed into the plastic, and it's all red now (not even with purple where the blue stripes were)! The one on the right was neon orange, brighter than the para-cord to the right of it in the photo (for reference), and it turned out an even better shade of red!
