M. LeonM. Leon: My electric bike was stolen from my backyard. The thieves jumped my locked gate, went through the side gate then took the bike from a closed storage shed. I had thought about an alarm system but had put it off due to cost. Well, my Ring kit (5-piece) cost a heck of a lot less than my replacement bike - lesson learned. On to my review...
I purchased the 5-piece refurbished Ring system. I've always had great luck with Amazon's refurbished electronics. Added was an Outdoor Gate Sensor and an Outdoor Blink Camera (I already have a Blink doorbell).
The setup was pretty simple - I just took my time and followed the guides. The look of the components is modern and clean. I incorporated the base unit into one of my gallery walls. The ring changes color so I always know the state of the system and it looks cool. I included the keypad as part of a vignette by my front door. The door sensors are mounted toward the top of each door frame and pretty much blend in. I chose not to install window sensors for now. I have manual window locks because of my A/C system.
I've tested the siren (it's in the base unit) and it is super loud - very effective. Arming and disarming the system from...

Larry D.: Been using the previous generation for about 4 years. Decided to upgrade since the door sensors are smaller and the keypad is sleek. Bought an extra keypad for my backdoor since I have a dog.

DBS: Let me start off by saying I had previously rated the contact sensors themselves two stars because of their price. They work great, but I found $40 for two sensors to be expensive considering you have to buy new ones if you move since you can't really take them with you. HOWEVER....out of curiosity I did some research. A single contact sensor with ADT is $40. On the other hand, a single sensor with SimpliSafe is $15. So Ring is kind of in the middle. I can't speak about performance as far as how far they all work from their base stations and battery life. But Ring's sensors have lasted me quite a while and have performed what I'd consider d3cently as far as wireless range goes. We have one sensor that relies on a Ring range extender to be able to connect to the base station.

Now onto other parts. The system is super easy to set up and use overall. Ring does offer professional monitoring for a good bit less than the well-known home security companies do. As of this review, it's $20 a month for professional monitoring. They do offer lower cost options that enable video recording for one or multiple Ring doorbell. There is also the free option as well where you monitor it...

barkingcows: After research, I bought and installed this system. I like it and recommend it. Here's what I've learned:
The system works well and was very easy to install. It's mostly wireless. Simple tools are all you need for mounting outdoor cameras and solar panels.
I bought the basic system and added to it. The basic system still contained things I don't need such as the main keypad and motion detectors. You may want them. If you have several doors and kids coming and going, having a keypad by each door may be just what you need. You may want one by your bed. Motion detectors without a camera seem unnecessary, but maybe you want them. Door and window detectors seem like a good idea, but I didn't buy more. I may add more later. It's very easy.
I think it depends on why you want any security in the first place. We are now retired and want to watch our house while we're gone. I think if a guy is going to break in, he's going to grab stuff and be gone pretty quickly. The Ring stickers on all the windows may deter him. If he does break in, I will have him on 'tape' and the cops will likely catch him later. If a window or door is broken or open, I will know that and can alert my...
