The Rightline Gear Ace 2 Car Top Carrier is the best soft-shell vehicle carrier on the market. With a generous 15 cubic feet of storage capacity, it is perfect for storing your luggage and other items during long trips. It is weatherproof and can be easily attached to your car with or without a roof rack. Plus, its easy-to-maintain design and range of color options make it a must-have for any car owner.AT: Held up well with 2,000 km of driving at speeds up to 85 miles per hour. Just make sure you install it correctly. Though not sure why some customers experienced buckle attachment glue giving up. That should never happen and no matter how big a mistake I don't think those should ever come undone.

Northernrays: We use it and don't have rails on the roof of our vehicle. So we strap it to the door frame. At the beginning of our trip (several hours in), I was impressed. It held well to the car and it met my expectations.
BUT, it started to rain. Water is not a friend to this product. Water followed the straps in to the car, and we could not stop it. It entered by all four doors. It dripped until the rain stopped. It was not pretty.
Thats our experience. It works well if there is no rain.

Ashley West: Great bag for extra storage for trips, but
... Not great quality
I love the amount of things that can be stored in the carrier, but after one camping trip the tie down strap started to come apart at the seams. The second camping trip the seams along the zipper started to unravel. I have not over packed the bag, zipper was easy to close in both trips.

Maude: J'ai dû acheter des sangles supplémentaires pour attacher le porte bagage sur mon toit, mais le rapport qualité prix est bon.

Pearl Bolog: Wasn’t sure how much extra space this would allow us but wow! It made so much more space for luggage. I would highly recommend this when traveling and needing more space. We traveled from Ohio to OBX and back. No problems, weatherproof, easy to use and highly recommend!

JF55996611: We needed to find a method of getting more storage capacity in a short amount of time. The car is a 2021 Mazda CX-5 (no roof rails). Was looking at all sorts of products and came across the Rightline ACE 2 product. After reading the reviews here and looking at their website, I decided to take a chance even so some reviews discussed problems with moisture leaking through straps and durability.
I followed the instructions as recommended by other users as well as the manufacturer. I did not over pack and made sure to keep the shape of the bag. I used a protective, non-skid cover between the bag and the car.
We put 2 beach chairs, 3 boogie boards, beach toy games, 3 small duffle bags, a twin size aero bed, and 6 beach towels to kind of keep everything tight. I put my duffle bags and aero bed in garbage bags in the event it rained. Everything else I did not mind getting wet.
THE ONLY THING I DID DIFFERENTLY was where I mounted the clips. The clips did not fit on the outside of the weather stripping. Therefore, I put the clips under the weather stripping against the frame. We had a little wind noise. Not terrible. We had noise from the strap. However, a quick adjustment to make...

Ken: Bought this for my family camping trip this year as the trunk space was not enough to fit all the camping gear. This was a more economical option to a hard top carrier as I would only use it a few times per year.
Pro
- good price compared to a hard top carrier
- it folds well and comes in a small box. Good for storage and doesn't take up a lot of space
- good quality and the material feel durable
- used it in the rain. Was skeptical at first with its waterproof ability so I place a tarp inside the carrier and also put my sleeping bags/tents in plastic bags. However, it stand quick well against the rain as the inside was completely dry. The water didn't get in through the zippers either.
- I used the straps that came with the carrier to tie it to the roof rack rail on my SUV. The straps were quite strong and had no problem holding the carrier down even driving at 100km/h on the highway.
Con
- nothing really. The zipper can get a bit tricky to close around the corner.
I highly recommend this carrier. I did use it with a anti-slip layer under it to prevent it from sliding on by cars roof.

Synthmuzic: Family summer road trip, we needed the extra space for some camping gear. The carrier held out well. I noticed the straps were slipping through the top of the bag when traveling @ 100km/hr. Took some adjusting and making sure the top end of the straps were tied in a knot before everything was stable. One recommendation for the carrier would be a long velcro piece at the front instead of two small ones. The pressure on the front of the bag lifted the front flap every time we were driving. All in all this carrier did the job, held out well and is in perfect shape for our next trip.

Melissa: I did a little research before choosing a car top cargo bag, and after a 2,000 mile trip, I am happy to say that I am incredibly pleased with this purchase. We used the car straps, as we have no rack on top, and they proved to be sturdy and kept the bag in place during the trip. Using them to attach to the weather stripping does cause some noise from the wind, and while I would normally take off a star for that, I don’t think it can be helped no matter what brand, and the positives far outweigh this minor inconvenience.
The part that impressed me and my husband most was its sturdiness during an incredibly bad storm - so bad that we had to pull off the highway as nobody could see. Winds were raging, and my husband was worried that the bag would fly off and we would lose everything. Didn’t happen. We pulled over to a gas station as soon as the storm let up, and the bag protected most of our gear. There was a little water that got in, but when we found out that we had been caught in 70 mph winds, we were mightily impressed that that was the only thing that happened.
Basically, we are incredibly pleased. For the price, this has proved to be a sturdy way to carry your...

Kindle Customer: The carrier holds quite a bit of stuff, more than I thought it would. It worked great, stayed in place and everything stayed dry while driving in inclement weather. Highly recommended.
