Richard Scarry's Superb Word Book: A Fun Way to Learn New Words!

Elizabeth Manning: Loved these books as a kid. They have a large and sturdy cover. Perfect for my 4 year old nephew's birthday this year. Would recommend.

Bill D.: A book, as a gift, for a young person, almost 3, from their aunt and uncle, that will help, and be a workbook for years to come, and a memory in years to come hopefully. The child is learning Mandarin, via the mother and English from the Dad and Family. I explained that it's a workbook. As you teach English, also write the Mandarin equivalent and it will act as a Rosetta Stone in learning to read in two languages. Can't do that with a library book. If it takes then I will see about buying The Best Story Book Ever to give as a follow up. I had mine for 45 years, given to me by my aunt long ago, and cherished.

Tras leerlo con ella me he acordado de que lo tuve yo cuando era pequeño (tengo 47), y me encantaba!
Las ilustraciones son bonitas y divertidas. A mi hija le encanta fijarse en todos los detalles (que hay muchísimos) y plantearme preguntas realmente graciosas y difíciles de responder a veces... :-)
También es una ventaja que sea en inglés ya que sirve también de repaso y descubrimiento de muchísimas palabras que está aprendiendo gracias al libro.
Todo el libro son escenas "cotidianas" en diversos escenarios de un mundo "real" en que conviven amistosamente toda clase de animales como ciudadanos ejemplares. Nada de ciencia ficción de ésta que hay ahora para niños que no la entiendo ni yo.
Recomiendo todos los libros de Scarry (también compré la colección de 10 libros) porque en mi opinión son totalmente atemporales (aunque se vean en ellos objetos "obsoletos" que los niños ya no reconocen, por ejemplo el teléfono no-movil y la tele "gorda") y las ilustraciones son simplemente geniales.

ScotFlower: The book i received was older and more worn out than expected for being listed in very good condition. However, this damage was mostly to the cover. The inside of the book was in very good condition. I liked how many words this book teaches and I purposely bought an older book because it had thee garden section and I love to grow flowers! I just wish similar topics were organized together.The sections of words in this book are as follows:

The New Day - covers getting ready and dining table items.

The Rabbit Family's House - covers the different names for each room in a house and furniture.

At the Playground - covers children games and playground equipment.

Tools - covers typical tools as well as some for woodworking and construction.

Farmer Bear's Farm - covers farm animals and basic equipment.

At the Airport - covers basic types of flying machines, parts of a plane, and some airport equipment.

Toys - this section seems a bit limited in my opinion. Plus, the doll is a stuffed bunny which may be confusing.

In the Flower Garden - very pleased with this section as contains poppy, zinnia, crocus, daffodil, pansy, aster, petunia,...
