My wife and I decided to put in a laminate floor. The goal was to complete the job as cheap as we could, but make the room we were installing the flooring in look 100 times better. Most of the supplies we got were purchased at the orange-colored hardware store. We saw a kit that had a hammer and some spacers and a few other things, but it was too much. Whenever we run into this problem, we say "let's check Amazon." Thank goodness we did. This kit came up and was much cheaper. It had solid reviews and appeared to have everything we need to get the job done.
The hammer is light, but you aren't building a house here fellas. It's can make enough impact to get the pieces to lock together, which is what we needed it for. The spacers were perfect for putting around the perimeter.
I recommend this product.

grillman39grillman39: The spacer do the job well the hammer is nice with the two sides because some time you did not need to hit metal bar with as much force the bar is a must have to pull the last piece of flooring closest to wall it’s has soft pads on it so you don’t scratch the floor when you use the bar to go under the wall to pull the last piece together I do not believe that I could have pulled the seams together as tightly as i did with out this bar . I have installed flooring before but this was my first time ever using vinyl flooring . I found that getting the last piece to lock in place could be hard I found that using a small block of wood to angle the the part of the bar I was going to tap on up would help angel the bar closest to the wall to help pick the plank a very small amount to allow you to close the two pieces of flooring together and it locking in place perfectly . The small block is just right the grove in the block protect the locking seam. I suggest that after you cut your first pice of flooring to make your staggered joints to experiment With the block so you see how easy it can be to damage the locking joint I found that as long as it was not the end...

My likes on this kit: The spacers were great and there were enough so that I didn't have to scrimp when laying down the laminate planks. The metal bar was very useful and I used it a lot. It is sturdy and didn't bend. This is a solid well made tool. I have mixed feelings about the tapping block. It is a handy size and did a great job of staying in place when tapping the planks to tighten the joins. It never slipped and never damaged the plank. However, instead of being a solid piece of plastic or whatever material it's made of, the bottom has reinforcement strips that could not withstand a harder blow of the hammer. The block eventually gave way and cracked in pieces after having to get a bit western to make the plank tight.
The only negative was the hammer that is included in the kit. Although nicely made, it really wasn't heavy enough to do what I needed done. I don't know whether this was my fault due to inexperience, the joins on the planks being overly tight or something else. It will come in handy as a hobby tool, though.
All in all, for the money this is a great installation kit. My only complaint is that I would like to purchase another...

Sarah Fischer: I bought this because we were doing laminate for our new mobile home. It's a 24 by 50. I wanted laminate for the whole home. After finishing two rooms I had to buy a second one because the edge (where you hammer) cracked and broke. The second one has so far finished the rest of the house. It's does it purpose and I bought 2 for less then the price of 1 at any other store.
