Retractable Garden Hose Reel with 115+5 ft of 5/8" Giraffe-Branded Hose

Mississippi Girl: I searched for a retractable water hose that was heavy duty and I had a long hose. This one had very high reviews so I thought I would buy even though it was a little pricey. It is so easy to pull and then to get it to retract. About five months after purchase date, I noticed a pinhole and the water hose. I contacted customer service and ask them to send me another hose. They said, unfortunately, they didn’t replace the water hose. They would have to replace the entire unit. Well, that was good news because they also said that I didn’t have to return the defective one. These customer service people were, so considerate and knowledgeable and I am 100% satisfied. I will be purchasing more Giraffe products.

Brian Mckeigan: Received the hose reel and it did not retract properly. Emailed customer service about the problem, they requested more info and a video of the reel while it was not working properly. After they received the info, they informed me that they were sending a replacement unit. Very pleased with customer support, they were courteous, great to deal with and I had the replacement within a week.

Jason HearleJason Hearle: The media could not be loaded.  So far so good. Super easy to install the mounting bracket, the hose is sturdy but flexible, and I'm absolutely loving the automatic reel return! Just either mount it to the side of your house into brick/concrete following the instructions included, or make sure you have something else super sturdy to mount it to. You need at least a 6x6" solid wooden fence post or something similar. Simply because the mount is too wide to fit on anything smaller.

I ended up mounting it through the side of my deck boards into one of the main supports and it's been absolutely fine.

A few things to note:

- When you pull the hose out, make sure to pull out as much as you think you'll need all at once. It can be a little tricky getting the hose locking feature to engage with a ton of hose out.

- *Do* make sure to shut off the water and drain the hose when you reel it back in or it may not retract all the way. Doesn't have to be with it all the way out, but the last few feet it may get stuck. I usually let it reel in until it's about 6-8 feet away, and then stop, and use a simple "reversed" splitter I put on the water inlet to shut off...

Kevin M.: I struggled over this purchase because I already owned a nice hose . I also struggled paying this much for a reel but after getting it and not dragging a hose all over the ground It's worth it.

Don't trust the instructions, I drilled the holes as instructed and they were too big for the lag bolts supplied, I had to run to Lowes and get larger bolts.

Install tips
I had an existing 4X4 post in the yard I sandwiched 2 2X4s and another 4X4 post to extend the height and then glued and screwed it all together. If post mounting you will need a post larger than 4X4 or add wood to 4X4 to widen it.

I suggest mounting it high in the air it makes pulling it out so much easier and it less likely to get caught on yard items (sprinklers etc)

I can't believe the hose it not replaceable but that is what the instructions say. For the money I hope the hose last a long time.

It also says if you pull the hose to the limit it will "destroy the unit" so be careful not to do this. There is a warning tag 3' from the end of the hose, but you would need to be near the reel to see it.

Michael Hall: Would be nice if the supply hose connected to the bottom of this unit rather than the side. The connection keeps the unit slightly off the wall, when turned fully left, but of course you may not be installing to a wall. Hose is a little stiff and crimps fairly easily, just need to be aware when handling.All in all vast improvement over dragging and hanging my old one.Seems sturdy enough but only time will tell.

Chad M.: Product was easy to install and works very well. About 1-month after installing the the real would not keep the hose out. It would only retract. I contacted the manufacturer who responded immediately, apologized and assured me they would correct. They were super polite. I explained issue and they sent out replacement very quickly. A+++ for customer service.

JTG: I have 5 giraffe hose reels and they are fantastic! The self retracting reel is super convenient and simple to use. The 5/8 inch hose models have higher water flow as you would expect and the 1/2 inch 155 footers are super useful for covering long distances. One of my reels got stuck, I emailed Giraffe, they responded immediately and asked for a video showing the issue and my address. They sent me an entirely new unit next day delivery. Great product and great support!

PRC: I really like the reel. Pretty easy to install. I mounted it to the house with a 1/2 inch poly block. Looks nice. I like the way it rolls out, rotates and for the most part rolls back up. It is the best hose reel I have had so can't complain too much. My only issue is, when you roll it up it stops with about 4 feet to go before hitting the stop. I then either have to leave 6 feet hanging out and dragging on the ground, or fight with it and give it 3 or 4 tries until in finishes it job. Not a deal breaker but annoying non the less.

BruceBruce: I’ve only used it once but the 5 foot feeder house that came with it was very kinked and I think it’s effecting the pressure.
