Replacement Key Fob Keyless Entry Remote Cover for 2010-2017 Chevy Equinox

Eva Vargas: Its literally the same as my current fob but the blank one for the trunk in the back where its supposed to touch the circuit board, there no actual button reaching the circuit board for the truck to open. That was the only flaw. I had to return it. If i paid for it at least be complete. I could've MacGyver it.

Dave: Easy to install board from old fob into this new case. Transferring old key blade to new hinge was tricky, but once installed works just great.
The key blank can be cut at a local dealer or some key cutting places, but it's not cheap. If your key is good but fob buttons broken, swap the blade over to the new hinge. Just requires a small pin punch and tweezers.

Sophie: The media could not be loaded.  They sent no instructions and I broke one of the buttons on the main board, so now panic button. But once assembled it is loose compared to the old one. Just feels cheaply made. And the button doesn’t stick out as far. So I can close it, but need to pry it open.

Jeff Maddock: I noticed the button clicker (metal) is shorter than the o.e.m and didn’t work for my key fob which is a real bummer considering my original fob is destroyed. I guess I’m an eat 15.00 dollars. This company specifies there fob replacement fits Chevy sonic 2013 sorry incorrect:(

luis chong garcia: Used it to replace the working key fob I had. Swapped the key with the blank by punching out the roll pin. Then just put a battery in and swapped the electronic board and that's it. Looks perfectly and did what we needed.

tony sibio: I opened the fob to discover it was defective because it was missing the circuitry inside that hold the battery and activates the key fob. i was unable to return it but i lost my money in the process and will not ever order this product again.

Borg: I ordered this as just a case intending to swap the circuit board and key from my original GM key fob. The original GM key fob had a button that had split away from the case leaving a hole.

Getting the GM key fob apart was a challenge. YouTube videos seem to indicate it wasn't glued but also wasn't easy to separate the halves, and it wasn't. I ended up using a rotary tool to cut the old case apart, being careful not to damage the circuit board and key.

Then, I thought I was home free. But, not nearly. The original GM key doesn't fit as is into the new case. The mechanism on the key that controls the opening and closing actions is made just a tiny bit different and the old key push button can't come all the way through the case.

So, back to YouTube. It turns out this seems to be a universal issue with aftermarket cases. The case came with a complete key blank that you could go get cut, but I understood that's around $150.00 at the Chevy place.

The actual key blades and the rotating section/key base are really two parts that are connected together with a tiny roll pin between the two. YouTube says to press out the roll pin and then swap...

Puck: Worked well. Saved me $300 getting a dealership replacement. I too had to remove the key blades and swap them to put my old key on the new "knuckle" with its button and spring. (Used a thin finishing nail). You have to gently turn the top TWICE to get the spring loaded enough to flip the key out. Disclaimer - I am good with tools and mechanically minded but a patient person should have no issues. 5 stars for a great product - 4 stars because it can be a little tricky - but for the savings - so what!
