PC: I have read and listened (audio books) to James Herriots books and when I heard about this book by his son I looked it up. Seeing that it was by a son who loved and respected his father I decided to give it a try. LOVE it. As well written as his father's books. Full of stories and photographs. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

S. RathboneS. Rathbone: “The Real James Herriot – A Memoir of My Father” is a lovely biography about James Herriot aka Alfred Wight (author of All Creatures Great and Small) as told through the eyes of his son, Jim Wight. The biography gives backstory for some of James Herriot’s most memorable and well-loved characters. This includes his main characters, Siegfried and Tristan Farnon who were based on the actual veterinarians he worked for up until his retirement. The book also delves into Alfred’s personal life including his bout with depression, reoccurring health problems, his success as an author, yet his kind and caring personality as a practicing and well-respected veterinarian. I highly recommend reading this book. Jim gives a wonderful outlook on his father and the man that has written charming, sweet stories for generations to enjoy.

Coral: Book received much faster than expected, cover very good but the paper was very poor quality and the pictures (old copies as expected) but with today’s technology thought they should have been better. The service through Amazon was excellent as always. I will enjoy the read as will others.

Ebenso findet man unveröffentlichtes Material.

Eula Bishop: A telling insight and sweet tribute from a son. Alfred Wight was even more humorous and sensitive than James Herriot.
