Mad Scientist: This heating pad is well made and easy to use. The controller is intuitive to use and the six heat settings gives you plenty of options for comfort. I generally use settings 2, 3, and 4. The higher settings are too warm for my likely, but some people may enjoy the benefit of the higher settings. There is also a choice of either a one or two hour setting for the auto-shutoff feature, which is very nice, if you're like me and tend to fall asleep when you're comfortable. I would definitely buy this heating pad again. The only reason I gave this four stars instead of five is, the power cord occasionally becomes disconnected from the heating pad. It doesn't happen often enough to not recommend it. But it can be annoying every once in a great while. Maybe the manufacturer can modify the connector to where the user would have to squeeze a tab to release the power cord?

P. S. Prakash: My wife likes it cold in the house, and during the winter months, it can be downright uncomfortable to sit in our living room, especially on a leather couch that seems to suck the heat away from me on cold mornings.

I had been getting by using an electric blanket, but it was never enough, so I ended up usually using the electric blanket and another throw blanket to keep warm. However, I noticed that my wife, who is both smaller and thinner than me, seemed to never be uncomfortable in the cold. What I realized was that she was using an old heating pad that we had bought a long time ago when she had some back issues.

I tried her heating pad and while it was nice, it just didn't provide enough heat to warm me up.

So I buy this heating pad and was not expecting much from it. It is a good size and when draped against the couch, it covers from the top of the back of my knees up to about my mid-back when sitting. I cranked it up to the highest heat setting of "6" and it got quite warm and toasty. I was impressed. Fast forward an hour or so and I realized that I was sweating, and a little while later, the heating pad felt too hot against my back. I had to bring down...

High: If you are a broken down old athlete like me your mornings are like the Tin Man running around trying to find some oil and your nights are spent using ice, heat, otc pain killers and possibly a beer or three. Prescription pain killers provide relief but also bring along several unexpected consequences to the party and should be avoided. You might think that you will never become addicted but thousands of people have. Taking a pill to feel good is very seductive and should place low on your list.

After having two spinal fusions and a brand new set of titanium knees, constant back pain became a daily problem. I was always a fan of ice and still am (I reccomend Ice Man) but it became obvious that heat plays a big part in getting muscles limber and allowing you to move around with minimal discomfort.

After I burned my butt on an old heating pad (circa 1955) that was handed down by my mother, I began researching some of the oversized heating pads available today. This particular one is 18" x 33" and allows me to apply consistent heat from my neck to my hips. It also has an auto shutoff and six temperature settings. You can still get it hot enough to do some damage but...

I suffer from a connective tissue disease that can make life pretty painful sometimes and this thing has brought me so much relief, and sleep in ways that were never possible with our old, hard-plastic-with-a-pillow-case heating pad. The plushy velvet texture and the flexibility of this pad is dreamy, and the slight weight feels like a nice warm compress or a heavy towel. I often use it for my hips, back, elbow and wrist all at the same time simply laying on my side and draping it over me. The length is beautiful, and can even fit over both myself and my husband if we spoon from his back to my stomach (and we are *not* slight of frame.) I used it for hours daily in the cool and cold months and it still works perfectly. I have only ever used it up to lvl 4, most often 3, and occasionally 2 now that it's warmer. My two only complaints, slight ones, are that it does not seem to heat up evenly and that I wish the control panel was further from the mat itself simply because the weight of it sometimes pulls it off. It also seems larger than it really needs to be but that's just an unqualified observation.
