David A. Amell: I would buy this extension reel again but time will tell if it stands the test of time. The quality looks looks good and it functions as advertised.

Amazon Customer: Everything seems good with the unit so far.
Directions are....interesting.... Good thing is that they aren’t really needed because if they were, they would be basically useless.
The biggest issue I have is that if you want to mount this to wood, they really don’t make that easy. There is no way to orient the housing to its mounting bracket so that you have sufficient clearance to use a tool to drive a lag bolt. How to remove the mounting bracket is not readily apparent if not impossible without significant disassembly of the unit. The directions are of no help here other than warning not to disassemble the unit because it has powerful spring tension inside.
I was able to mount it by first mounting it to another piece of wood with predrilled holes and using countersunk bolts from the back side. That piece of wood was then attached to where I wanted to mount. If you want to install this up high needing the use of a ladder it’s not exactly fun because you have to mount the whole unit as one piece which is cumbersome both because of weight and it has an articulating mounting bracket. It would me MUCH nicer for multiple reasons if you could remove the...

Shaun BShaun B: This ReelWorks Heavy Duty retractable extension cord is one of the best things I have bought for my garage. Having an extension cord I can just pull down from the ceiling is super handy. It is so much better than having to unravel a regular outdoor extension cord, yet alone trying to find somewhere to store it.
The installation was easy. I did it by myself, but it would have been easier with two people. I followed the advice of some other reviewers and removed the bracket from the housing to attach it to the ceiling. You have to remove a screw that slides through a plastic pin (pictured). Once removed, putting the bracket up was a cinch. Getting the housing back up to the bracket was what took the longest. It is somewhat bulky and just heavy enough to be awkward up on a ladder. This is where I could have used a second set of hands. I was able to get the plastic pins back in. However, I first had to squeeze the bracket slightly back into position, as it had flared out tightening it to the ceiling. After getting it up, the cord hung down just low enough for it to hit my head. Adjusting the length which hangs out of the reel simply involves loosening two screws and sliding the...

Pam: My husband loves it

kevkwas: Really like this cord refactor, used it this winter to use my leaf blower to blow snow off driveway, recoiled fine, and it was a -40c winter here! I recommend the 65’ one as it seems bigger and holds cord easily. The reset button on side is a joke on mine, but easy to bypass that. I recommend this.

LightSickLightSick: First of all I want to be upfront in that I just received this cord reel.
I wanted the length and the 12ga cord for heavier draw tools like my table saw and compressor. The length pulls way out into the driveway and allows me to reach the truck parked some distance away (actually around 65ft as it turns out). The 12ga cord seems to handle whatever I plug in without a hiccup. Does not get warm.
I mounted it from the ceiling close to the extra garage door opener plug. It is a bit large compared to smaller gauge (16 and 14) reels. But the upside is that it really doesn't matter as it's up and out of the way in my application. Both the 65ft cord and the relatively longer reel-to-outlet cord are 12ga. The larger size has meant that there is plenty of room within the housing for the entire 65ft length of cord and there is no binding when retracting the cable. In other words I haven't needed to take any care to "baby" and maneuver the cord as it's reeled back in. There's lots of room and you're not left with the cord stop ball dangling a foot or more out of the housing because the cord got bound within the housing.
Since the housing is big and the 65ft of 12ga cord...

J. Lawson: I’ve had this now about a year and use it quite often. The coiling spring seems to be just as good as day one. I used the garage ceiling power plug next to my garage door opener. I was tired of messing with extension cords and this saves me a lot of time, and keeps my garage neat. On mine, there is a small circuit breaker button that tripped for me when I was using an industrial heated blower that is rated at 17 amps, so I suspect the circuit breaker is for 15amps.
