Detritus Effluvium: I decided on using Rayovac batteries exclusively for 10 years after DuraCells and Energizer batteries leaked years before their expiration dates. Haven't had a Rayovac leak even once.

J. BJ. B: Batteries are around 8 months old. Not that big a deal, you could easily get batteries that have been sitting on a shelf that long at a store.
They have a little less initial voltage than you would expect to see. Under no load 1.603V was consistent among all of them, 1.620 is the lowest I'd expect to see from a brand new battery. Too bad because rayovac is typically a pretty good brand. But we'll see how they hold up. Price was good if you didn't want to buy a bulk pack though.
