William Manns: A fellow master gardener brought a root slayer to a project a couple of weeks ago and after I used it, I ordered this one from Amazon. I worked in my yard all day for a couple of days and moved 6 boxwoods, two azaleas and dug up all the shrubs, day lilies and large hostas from two beds to make room for a butterfly garden. I also easily dug holes to plant 6 small trees. The root slayer made easy work of the tasks.

AlexAlex: Just get it already. This thing helped me remove 4x huge juniper roots in about 45 minutes per root. It’s amazing how effective it is underground and how the tip stays sharp.
I started with root killer but honestly that did nothing. I bought this and went entirely around the root ball about 6 inches out, and it went through the small roots without me even realizing it. Large roots required multiple hits, but it was about as effective as an axe that went underground. Was able to put my whole 175 pounds on the end while prying out the root ball. Very strong.
My buddy recommended a stump grinder — this was cheaper and now I can replant in the same spot. Way better for bush-sized removal.

RachelRachel: Title: Clearing Green Giants With Root Slayer - A Game Changer For Gardening Veterans and Casuals Alike
Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)
I am writing this review fueled by profound admiration, respect, and surprise, carried in the sturdy metal hands of the Root Slayer. This was not only my preferred tool for uprooting a particularly stubborn bush in my yard but also a magnificent symbol of design, functionality, and superior quality.
The Root Slayer's effectiveness is a notch above standard shovels and speaks volumes about its intelligent and practical design. It's like an empowering extension of your will over green behemoths, making you feel like a gardening superhero. As someone who has toiled with many standard shovels, the sheer efficiency of the Root Slayer has shattered my expectations of what a gardening tool can achieve.
One fantastic feature is its patented blade design - built to cut through the toughest of roots. This technology sets the Root Slayer apart from its competitors, ushering in a sense of invincibility in the face of notorious root networks. I was particularly impressed by how smoothly and cleanly the Root Slayer managed to extract a...

William Poy Lee, Esq.: I tried the Grandma long-handle derooter because I had one a long time ago and it worked for smaller weeds. However, California had an unseasonable deluge rain season, and it not only filled up our reseveroirs, it overfed all kinds of weeds, including what I can only call a fennel plant infestation. Unfortunately, Grandma's derooter wasn't much use on this jungle.
Well, I just experimented with the root slayer. It's a breeze digging up normal weeds as expected. The test was a fennel plant whose roots were bunched up like 5 thick fingers. It had sprung sky high up inside an enclosed concrete square block. The root-slayer didn't exactly "ease" into the dryish dirt. Nor did I use the jagged teeth. But that's what the extended wings are for, to step on and pound it deeper. Slowly but steadily I tamped the tool down on several sides. Essentially, I loosened it up enough to gently leverage it out with the shovel and then pull it entirely out. I'm not able to bend down much nowadays, but using the shovel, I lifted it up and dumped into my plant debris box. Or use one of those long handle "claws" for about $15 on Amazon.
So, this is a keeper. I've got quite a few more of...
