arc84arc84: I packed this on top of my car and drove through the worst of the summer heat and summer rain from Southern California to Florida (2,500 miles). I was nervous because I read mixed reviews and I was also nervous because of the plastic buckles. But, I made sure the straps were on as tight as possible.

The heat was so bad that the night time temperatures averaged around 110 degrees Fahrenheit AT NIGHT. My car had more issues in the heat than the bag did.

I will say, don't place any plastic items in the bag in that heat. The heat does still go through (duh). The heat melted something of mine.

But, thise cargo bag was well worth it!

Shelly Gockerell: There is lots of room. It does effect your gas mileage and can be noisy. Make sure that you pack it full to help with the noise. I loved how much it held and how easy it was to install. We don’t have a luggage rack on top of the car:

Buddy Austin: I'm surprised it was as well made as it was being one of the cheapest rooftop bags. And it was larger than expected (yet not too large for my roof; 13 Chevy Cruze). The included loops for attaching to the car door frame worked very well. I will say though, if you are traveling and remove the bad while you're at your destination, I recommend removing the loops as well. They tend to get fall into the door when you close the them and this does allow a few droplets of water to enter the car during heavy rain. It only adds like 60 seconds to remove/install so I don't count against this. There was NO leaking when the loops were properly attached and secured with the bag in place.

One "downside" is the strap adjustment on the bag. They are about as basic as it comes but cinching them tight when buckled seemed impossible. We had to adjust the length unbuckled first, then buckle it when adjusted to a legth that would be tight enough. This worked just fine, and it survived two 3.5 hour trips, but it does add some time to packing. Still worth it to fiddle with the straps than to pay 2x more for something used so seldom.

Mimzy Atlas: This was extremely difficult to install on my small SUV. However, while installing it I got a weird rash on all the skin that touched it that stung. Please be careful when handling this product.

Mallaidh Anne: Alright y'all. I bought this last summer when I needed to move everything I had from Providence, Rhode Island to West Virginia...in a Smart Car. I definitely couldn't fully follow the intended & recommended attachment instructions, since a Smart Car is much smaller than any other vehicle and only has two doors. But I fastened it securely through the doors and the hatchback trunk door. Rhode Island to West Virginia, nearly 700 miles, not a single issue along the way.

Which is why I decided to test it even further this October, on yet another move, this time from WV to Washington Coast, 2,500 miles. I hit snow in the rockies (not fun in a Smart), passed a tornado in the midwest, hit windstorms in Kansas, and it even sat at a campsite for two days straight of nonstop, torrential downpour in Missouri. Everything inside stayed bone-dry. All I had to do was check the straps when I stopped for food & gas and occasionally tighten them up. I also bought a roof mat to put under it to prevent sliding & damage to my car roof.

People thought I looked pretty funny, packed so tight into such a little car, and I had to answer questions every time I pulled over somewhere,...

Christopher Donald: I have used this car top carrier for a handful of trips since purchasing it, most recently in July of 2021. It has lived up to and exceeded expectations each time it was used.

Installation is very simple when following the instructions. Tightening of the straps was a little tricky, but was eventually accomplished. I also add a ratchet strap over top as an additional safety measure, but don't think it is necessary. The ratchet strap actually got us a little wet on the last trip, since it compromised the gasket on the door and allowed a small drip of water to come in. This only occurred after leaving the carrier installed overnight while at a hotel and it continuously raining. Some water did make its way inside the carrier, but nothing of concern and this is the only time I've seen water make its way in when using this carrier. On the return trip we ran into more rain and did not have this issue.

For the most recent trip I used this, I was able to fit a set of golf clubs, 2 large duffle bags, tackle box, fishing pole, football, beach blankets, and some other items neatly tucked into available space. It took me all of about 30 minutes from putting it on top of the car...
