Just pop in & out the batteries at each destination (so it doesn't go off in transit) and have peace of mind during your stay.

Rosemary rosiebear Pfeiffer: On Christmas day, I was alone when the carbon monoxide det. that I had for 10 years started to go off telling me to get out immediatly..called the fire dept. Turns out the detector had run its life course. The fire chief lent us one just like this and recommended buying this model. I bought this and so far it hasnt gone off lol. It shows on the screen a number that measures the level in the house and it refreshes like every 15 mins. I think if the fire chief says its good, then it must be because Im betting my life on it.

jimmy: I bought two of these Kidde carbon monoxide alarms over a year ago on the recommendation of my heating and air conditioning technician. I don't have the technical means to test these units, but they appear well made. One of my concerns was placement. The user's manual contains tips on where (and where not) to place them. I installed one of them in each bedroom, on the wall at eye level, so the display can be easily read. Actual installation was easy enough--two screws and two wall anchors per unit. Another concern was battery consumption. However, the batteries have not required changing yet, so the units seem to use power efficiently (but since a year has passed, changing the batteries anyway would probably be a good practice). In sum, this purchase has been satisfactory.

Nathan Kull: This device was very easy to mount, however it did not come with any screws, not sure if that is normal. The alarm seems loud enough to wake you when placed in a hallway outside of the bedroom. I wish that these items displayed all levels (even below 30 ppm) however no detector that is UL rated will have that feature as it is part of the UL specifications that they have to display 0 until the level is over 30. You can still see what it has detected below 30 by pressing the button to see the highest recorded level.

I needed one, now I have one, and I can sleep at night knowing that if something is wrong this thing will let me know.

I now have a second one of these detectors that I placed on the lower floor of my home. I am still happy with this detector, however I do want to confirm what others have posted in this thread that you do get some rather "random" readings from this unit for "highest recorded level" ...

It seems that this number will change each time you run a test, so currently my upstairs unit reads 16, and the downstairs unit reads 20. If I run a test on these units, they will read something else. I do not...
