Michigan HikerMichigan Hiker: I always used tarps and bungy cords to protect our A/C. But this year, I decided to give one of these a try as it seemed a but silly to spend as much if not more in buying a tarp than using something specifically designed for this. When first opening it, it smelled like fish. Like the fresh fish you can buy at a fish market. But since this goes outside I didn't care that much. I was then struggling to make it fit until I realized that I needed to unzip the Velcro, duh! After that, it was quite easy. Unfortunately, it doesn't fully close around my unit's hoses. I was always able to cover that area much better when using a tarp. But well, I like that this has ventilation opening to prevent condensation. I'm not sure if it will last more than a winter. I usually reuse the tarp for several seasons until I have to throw it away. That's why I have not given a high rate for durability and weather proof (3 out of 5 stars.) I'll come back once it's been exposed to several snow and ice storms and update my review as needed. Apart from the fish smell, which went away within a day or two, it looks good enough.
