The Amazon Basics Polycarbonate Office Carpet Chair Mat is the perfect choice for thick carpets. It's made from premium quality polycarbonate material, making it highly durable and long-lasting. The mat's gripper back underside ensures maximum stability on any surface, while the highly rigid polycarbonate material creates an easy-glide surface for caster-based chairs. It's the best hard floor chair mat available, offering superior design, durability, and overall satisfaction.Amazon Customer: Ours came flat, some reviews said to be careful in the unfold. Got it for the home office, I am bit sure our carpet would be considered thick but this make the desk chair easy to maneuver and protects the carpet. No complaints.

SS: This took a while to get here and I am in a major metropolitan area. It was worth the wait. This works perfectly. My chair does not sink into the carpet AT ALL and this may does not slid on carpet.
Because I was looking for a very particular size to fit into a very tight spot, I feel like I hit the jackpot with this. I did need a second person to help me get this into the tight area I was working in as this is a thick thick chair mat and bending it takes quite a lot of effort. When you remove the wrap that is around this, it could literally break something or hurt you with the force it must have taken to get it rolled in the first place...be very careful...the manufacturer gives a warnings to be careful when you remove the packaging wrapped around the mat, but I was a bit cavalier about it and was surprised by the force. No joke, be careful. Highly recommend!

Kainoa68: Moved my home office from a room that had hardwood floors to medium pile carpet. I had originally got one of the cheaper rolled up mats, but it was just a waste of money. You didn't have to even sit in the chair for it to sink into the map and form divots. When you did sit in it, you couldn't roll the chair out of the divots easily.
From reading the reviews and product information for quite a few different mats. I liked the fact that many of the reviews mentioned its rigidness which prevented what was happening on my previous mat, so decided to give it a try. When I received it, sure enough, it was one large, flat cardboard box. No tiny box, like the rolled up one. After removing the mat from the box, it is quite stiff, for example, lean it up against a wall and it will only slightly bend, but no sagging. After laying it on the carpet and just stepping on it gave me more confidence in it. Solid, with little give. Put the chair on the mat and after sitting for an hour, no divots and no problems moving around. The cleats on the bottom surface kept the mat in place.
In the end, this mat worked for me. It costs more than my original mat, but well worth the price. Since...

Ken Johnston: I researched all of the polycarbonate mats and it was frustrating to see some negative reviews. Finally we chose this one. It's all pros no cons.
Pros
1. It came shipped flat so we placed it down and used it right away.
2. We put it partially under our desk and one 5 inch area is covered by the PC.
3. It is solid and the chair wheels glide nicely with no bends or dips.
4. It hasn't moved one iota in a week.
5. It has lots of grips on the bottom which grabs our thick Berber carpet.
6. The 4 corners have nicely rounded edges and all of the edges are not sharp.
You can't go wrong with this clear chair mat for thicker carpets.
We expect several years of use out of this mat.

David DuxburyDavid Duxbury: The only fault I can find with this product is that the plastic nubs on the bottom could be a little longer and more pointed, the mat tends to side backwards after a while

Amazon Customer: I got this one as a replacement to Cleartex Advantagemat Chair Mat for Carpets, Clear PVC, Rectangular with Lip, 36" x 48" (FR119225LV), which is much cheaper but also close to useless on residential carpets. Here are some similarities and differences between the two.
Similarities:
- Both mats are actually made by the same company (Floortex).
- Both have cleats only about 1/8" in height, even though the PVC one is for low pile carpet, while this one is for thick carpet. It would be nice if they have 3/4" to 1/2" cleats, but on this mat it's not as big a problem, more on that later.
- Both have somewhat sharp edges that could have been rounded at the factory but now I have to do it myself.
Differences:
- Materials are different (duh). The PVC one is softer and develops dents and divots from just putting a chair on it without even sitting in the chair. This one is polycarbonate which is much stiffer and dips only slightly after I sat down in my chair on the mat.
- Since PVC is more flexible it is shipped rolled up in a box, and it never fully flattens out even after I followed their instructions by putting weights on the corners and in the centre, and...

Solovulcan: Amazon Basics Polycarbonate Office Carpet Chair Mat, for Thick Carpets, 47" x 59"
This chair mat works well on carpet, but ships with sharp, unfinished edges. The gripper “nubs” on the reverse side are only about 1/8 inch long and should work on almost any kind of carpet, not just “thick” carpets. Gone are the days when high quality chair mats were made thicker and stronger, and with finished, beveled edges. These mats are come with unbeveled edges that may at times, snag your toe, foot or shoe if not careful, though it is not problematic for me. When your chair casters come off the mat onto carpet, it is not as easy to get the caster back on the mat. Unfortunately, it seems almost all chair mats these days have unbeveled and unfinished edges. In addition, the edges are sharp. I had to use a file to take down the edges before use so I wouldn’t cut my (bare) feet. After using an assortment of chair mats for many years, I would like to recommend the following:
1. Buy a polycarbonate chair mat instead of a vinyl chair mat. Polycarbonate is harder and won’t dimple like vinyl. Casters can become “stuck” in the dimple, hampering free movement of the...

Aeriel: Very sturdy and holds steady on my plush carpet. Just what I was looking for. However, word of warning when unwrapping the plastic wrap - I didn't pay attention to the warning on the box and label - it really has a tremendous spring and bounced off my face. I was lucky. Could have been serious. Warning recommends to have help when unwrapping. Good advice.

KEN KWAN: Received the mat today rolled up and packaged in a rectangular cardboard box. Delivery is as promised, timely.
Having read about warnings by previous buyers, I laid the item across a sufficient clear floor space large enough to accommodate the mat size when unfurled. The item is secured by some tough plastic sheet in the middle. With a sharp knife and standing well clear of the roll at one end, I reached across to cut the securing tape. As expected, the mat unrolled in an instant into a full sheet. Quite scary!. To prevent shifting, I placed a corner of the mat under a stool leg. BUT, I am very surprise by the puny spikes in the backing. They are a mere 1/8" at most! Except perhaps for the material stiffness, and maybe thickness, I can't see how they are different from from the ordinary/normal ones sold in Staples. I scanned all the types available on Amazon for very thick pile carpet, and read all the product reviews. This type seemed to be well favored. BUT I have expected it to come with spikes a lot longer , for thick pile carpet! Not 1/4"!. No wonder the mat will shift if it is not "held down" in some part. Or have I received the wrong product?

P. Gritzmacher: I received the floor mat weeks after I ordered it and picked up the only one available - one that was "like new." Packaging tape man got ahold of the floor mat and it came completely flat and taped literally everywhere. Upon opening it, it already had a crack - not surprising since it was not rolled up.
The mat itself is rigid and lays flat. it clings to the floor well and my chair, which has roller blade wheels, rolls well on it. Generally, pleased with the product, but know there is a chance it comes with damage. The packaging was so poor there is no way that I'm repackaging and sending it back, so I guess I just paid $110 for a damaged floor mat. Wooo!
