Tanya: This is the one! After much trial and error and several cutters later, I forked over for this one. And it works! One tip: buy a heat gun to heat the score line with and alternate between heating the line and then submerging in ice water for 30 sec or so. Repeat until it separates (sometimes one round does it, and sometimes you need one more). I watched a ton of tutorials during my learning curve and finally have a great system down. You dont need an expensive heat gun. I used this one and its great!! (copy and paste link below).

El SeeEl See: They say it takes some getting used to and are practicing, but as we always have wine bottles for them to practice on, they're getting better. They are using them to hold the candles that they are also making as gifts. So far so good as you can see by the pictures. Recycle reuse!

Sharon Kay Lofstrom: I have tried many different methods and different style bottle cutters. This is without the best one. More expensive than others, but so worth the money. I had almost 100% success rate with the last batch of bottles I cut. I lost 2 and after loosing the second bottle(they were exactly the same) I realized the glass in these wine bottles was much thicker than other bottles. I scored as I had all the others, but even after doing the hit/cold water method several times they did not break. I tapped the bottle and then got a very jagged cracked break. I came to the conclusion after doing 2 of the exact same bottles and both broke the same, it was not the cutter, but he thickness of the glass. The spring in the cutting mechanism of this one is the truck to the success rate. I would but again and highly recommend this bottle cutter.

I believe this bottle cutter is probably the best from what there is to choose from on Amazon. The quality is good and I think it is a good price for the money. You just need to be good at precision type stuff like this ... and patient. I'm neither.
