I would suggest not piercing yourself it’s a weird feeling and you must commit to pushing it all the way through otherwise the plastic thing doesn’t break off. Would buy again way cheaper then having a professional do it!

Larry Peay: I had no trouble figuring out how to use it and it did a great job on my own ears - with a little help from my wife to line it up. However, it did not work so well on my granddaughter, the earring came out the very next day - twice in a row. I found that the earring that it puts in is not all that secure, and by giving a screw-on back earring an alcohol bath and replacing the one this uses with that was the only way to make it work on a rambunctious little girl.
