Liam: All I can say is your dog will learn to use the bells. It’s as simple as ring them before you take them out each time and they’ll do the rest. Have had them for over 5 years and they don’t fail! Smart, and it saves the wood on the door.

Kevalb: I was skeptical at first that my new puppy would actually learn to use these, but in just a week, he's got it. We hung this on the curtain handle on the sliding glass doors that go to the back yard. Every time we took him out (he was 6-7 weeks old), we'd ring the bells with his nose gently. Then we would just giggle the bells before we opened the door. After about 2 weeks of repetitive bell ringing, he will now go over and ring the bell to go out. Of course, he loves being outside, so he rings the bell a lot. But the overall product is great.

Snow: good idea

Natalie Scholl: Great quality and works well for our puppy to let us know she needs out. The collapsible bowl has been useful too!

CCWatters: These are sturdy, and work perfectly for our puppy to let us know she has to go out.
We hung them NEXT TO our door she uses to go out to potty, that way they weren't constantly ringing every time the door opened and closed. She would ring them instantly when we offered food/treats as a reward....but took about 3 weeks to ring them for potty on her own (without the food motivation). To get her trained without the food, we just continued to say "potty outside" and ring the bells by gently pushing her nose into them EVERY time we took her out for potty ... even when potty wasn't her idea. Then once she finally used them for potty on her own, she has rung them every time ever since (tries to use them to play too but we know the difference based on her schedule and simply say "no...those are for potty outside" and she will surrender while still using them the next time she needs to go out for potty).
Loved that these came in a two pack, we are using one set for our vacation home and one for here since we only have one door she goes out. One jingle bell came off a couple months ago and I was glad I was nearby when it happened so she didn't choke...but still can't figure out how it...

Carole HarrisCarole Harris: When I opened the package, I was a little disappointed because I thought the bells were going to be a bit thicker. I have a small puppy, but a larger puppy (if he got a bell in his mouth) could chomp down and flatten the bell. It didn't happen on my side, though. I've had these bells 4 days and my 4 mo. old puppy is now ringing the bells to let me know he has to go outside. I did not follow the instructions on how to do this. Here's what I did... I took a little piece of a dog treat and put it on the bottom 3 bells. My dog will go after food like a champ! He takes his nose and hits the bells, which make the little piece of treat fall on the floor and then he eats it. As soon as he does that we go outside and Jack goes potty. Then he gets the other piece of the treat. After 2 days of this, he knows to ring the bells and he gets his treat outside. If your dog does not go out for bathroom duty, do not give your dog the treat. It's important that they associate the bells with going potty outside and THAT is going to get them a treat after they go. Sooo cool!!!
UPDATE: JACK IS NOW 5 MONTHS OLD AND I WAS GOING TO GIVE THE 2ND SET OF BELLS TO A NEIGHBOR, BUT I PUT THEM ON MY BEDROOM...

Al J Abadi: It was so hard having to constantly monitor our puppy on whether she wants to go potty. Using this and patiently training her to use (lots of video out there on how) was life-changing. She lets us know every time!

Jane Doe: FIrst...the only complaint I have with these. The way they secure to the door knob....I would absolutely go a different way. It's not terrible....but it can make it harder to get a grip on the knob when you try to open it because the strap for the bell takes quite a bit of getting used to. I feel like this would almost work better just tying it in place with 550 cord. The snaps do work....but there isn't a snap in the spot that would actually work best for keeping it in place on our door. This minor issue is the only reason this isn't a 5 star review.

I bell trained our older dog around 7 years ago. We have tried a LOT of different bells...none of them were just made and sold as dog doorbells. I typically just buy some bells from a craft store and tie them to the door.

The reason I didn't do that this time is because of the cat. He simply can't resist the bells that are available at our local craft store...I figured the bells that would come with this would have to have a different tone to them, and I was right. The cat doesn't like it...so now I know that when the bell rings, it's actually one of the dogs signalling that it's time to go out.
