I knew that I wanted another cat collar with elastic for safety, but I wanted it to be more durable, as with 'real' leather. This silver- studded (although I wanted the crystals instead) red leather collar, looked ideal - unlike any others I had found. So I ordered two, for my 8 and 9 lb. babies that are two-years old now.
The collars arrived and I was pleasantly surprised! I was so happy with the 'real' leather and safety elastic! At last, I found safety, quality and style for my tiny pups!

Jamie: This collar is really high quality, but when it said “safety release” in the description I expected a break away collar but this collar does NOT have a breakaway buckle. It would not be good for an outdoor cat or indoor/outdoor as they could get stuck and hang from a tree branch or fence.
Like I said the collar is very high quality, the leather is sturdy and thick so they can’t chew it up and the steel is beautiful.
tldr; good for indoor cats not okay at all for outdoor cats

Lark: I adore these collars for my cats. They all wear them with tags in case they get loose, and I'm never worried they're going to choke themselves on them. They're tightened only to the point where they can't slip over their heads without stretching the elastic section, so they won't generally pull the collars off themselves but if they get caught on something they'll stretch and slip off.
The material is wonderful compared to nylon as well. I've only got shorthaired cats so I can't comment on the "tangle factor" with long hairs but I love that when they scratch they don't end up with a fluffy halo of pulled threads like they do with nylon collars.
My only caution is that they need to be cleaned regularly - once a month should be sufficient for cats without skin issues. Because they're not breathable, gunk and bacteria can build up on the inside surface. Making sure the collar isn't tight, and wiping them down with a gentle disinfect and letting them dry before putting them back on the cat solves this issue completely.

eldnereldner: Excellent well made collar. I've now bought 5 of these, they are well worth the money.
Our cats are collar Houdini's. After going through a zillion break away collars, we purchased these hoping they were a little harder for them to lose. Our initial purchase has been on the white cat now for almost a year, we keep it snug but know that if he was caught up on something, the elastic band would stretch allowing him to escape. The leather and clasp hardware are sturdy and good looking. There is nothing cheesy on these collars. The studs, the clasps etc. are sturdy and have held up extremely well.
We recently updated the rabies tags and I was impressed at how well the original collar has actually held up. Given how well these hold up, I recently purchased two more in each size, now all our kitties are sporting leather studded/rhinestones collars with their id/rabies tags!

Cat M.: The media could not be loaded. I never thought I would have much to say about a cat collar, but this collar is great!!! I had tried several collars for my kitten and he kept getting them off. They were stretchy and even though it fit properly he would somehow pop them off. The other problem was the bells on the other collars were too loud. It would freak him out. This collar is well made, cute with the studs( his collar is black) and the bell is a little smaller and just barely “tinkles” when he moves. He never reacted to the bells and adjusted to the collar immediately. We like being able to know where he is if he is moving around in the house and we call him— otherwise it is so soft you don’t notice the ringing — only if you are listening for it.
The reason I wanted the collar was just in case he got outside. I wanted people to know he wasn’t ferral so they would try to catch him and check his microchip. I have now added a little tag with his name and my phone number.

MorwensCat: This is a fabulous product. The collar is very sturdy and very attractive. The elastic on this is heavy and stiff: enough give to let a cat get free should they get caught but not so much that they can use the stretch to get out of the collar. I was looking for a safety collar with elastic rather than the breakaway clasp. One of my cats gets out of those in nothing flat. The collar feels like it will last. Initially I saw this style in a kitten/cat 10" collar which other buyers said just fit their adult cats. Then I found the larger 12" size which is perfect for my adult cats. The 12" size has plenty of room for adjustment. There is a loop for hanging a tag. There is a tiny bell which looks to be removable but is so faint that I did not bother taking it off. My one cat has had several collars and disliked them all. This one he does not even notice. I have this one and the purple one with rhinestones.
A very good collar at a very good price.
