andbrains: I bought this for one of my Chiweenies that is overly verbal. A couple of years ago I bought an expensive type that you have to activate using a remote, but that didn’t work at all due to the lag between her actual bark and my response-you can’t just sit around all day waiting for a bark. This one wasn’t expensive, it was made for small dogs, doesn’t shock the dog, and is automatically triggered by the dog’s bark. It works exactly like it is supposed to work and now my dog may make an occasional 1-alert bark, but the barking doesn’t persist. This has also had the added effect of calming her during thunder storms. The last thunder storm we had, I didn’t have it on her and when the thunder started, she saw me pick up this device and she ran over to me without me calling her, wagging her tail eagerly wanting me to put it on her. Once I did, she went and jumped into her bed and snoozed through the storm!

There is a trick to making sure it works correctly. It is the vibration in the dog’s throat that triggers the device to beep, beep a little louder, or vibrate. Consequently, the device has to be fitted just right around the dog’s throat-snug enough to pick up...
