Sunny: Now I don't have to fiddle around searching for the OFF button. One slap and it's off. Nice safety feature. I also like that if the power goes out for any reason, the saw doesn't start up again when the power is restored. I have to manually push the ON button to restart the saw.
I need another one for the router table.

Ryoun Dohho:

R. McClellanR. McClellan: I used this to make a switched plug for my router table. All in all, I liked the switch with a few caveats.
Pros:
* Seemed well made (I've only been using it a week)
* It was a HUGE improvement on convenience and safety compared to reaching in under the table to pull the trigger and push in the lock! But that's just a comparison to my own poor situation.
* $10 seems like a pretty good price for a magnetic paddle switch.
Cons:
* I would have preferred screw connections to spade connections. I think screw connections are more positive. If I thought I was going to have to replace the switch regularly, spade connectors are preferable. But if I thought I was going to have to replace it regularly, I wouldn't have bought it.
* Because of the depth of the switch and the use of spade connections, I needed to add a 2" extension to my 2 1/2" handi box (see photo). Certainly not the end of the world, but only because I had the space available to mount it.
* It would be really nice if there was a dimensioned diagram of the switch so I could have gotten all the parts I needed on the first trip.
As I said, I've only been using it a week--and I hate seeing...

A.C.: The media could not be loaded. I installed this switch on my older table saw. To operate my old switch (that was mounted on the right side of the saw), I would have to bend down and put my head in line with the saw blade. Obviously, this is not ideal, as a cutoff could touch the blade at that instant, sending a piece of wood right at my head. It is a potentially far-fetched idea (and the likelihood decreases if proper shop procedures are used), but humans are prone to error and it always skeeved me out, regardless. The switch I had was also an older flipper switch, and as such, had no “panic” button, so to speak.
I liked the idea of having the large “STOP” button for safety, as well as being able to relocate the switch to the left side of the saw to keep me out of the line of fire as much as possible.
To install, I placed a (galvanized) deep single gang electrical box on the faceplate of the saw, and roughly marked out the dimensions. I then held the box on the back side of the faceplate, and tilted the saw blade all the way to 45 degrees to be sure the box would not interfere with the carriage. I drilled a hole in all four corners of my mark, and cut...

Whyz: Large stop button makes it easy to turn power off to my tool. Magnetic switch turns off if power is lost. Means the tool will not start when power comes back on in the event of a breaker tripping or power failure. Having to put terminal connections on the power cable was a pain. Had to go buy some. Four terminals needed. No screws came with the switch. Fortunately I had some that fit.

Steve: As described, this is a real magnetic switch. That means if power is interrupted, it will remain off even after power is restored. This is an important safety feature when running power tools that might unexpectedly restart after a power failure.
This switch was considerably cheaper than any of the others I looked at, and many of those weren't actually magnetic switches. Makes it a great value in my book.
The switch action feels good. Buttons are positive feeling and not mushy. They don't require excessive force to push. The big paddle "OFF" button looks kinda goofy, but you definitely can't miss it in an emergency.
You do want to "mean it" when you push the buttons. Since it is a magnetic switch, a half-hearted push on or off may result in some "buzzing" as the contacts have trouble deciding which way to go. As long as you are intentional in your actions, it's not noticeable. I have no idea if it is harmful to the contacts or tool, but it seems like something you want to avoid, so don't be shy.
The one thing I'm not terribly fond if is the connection points. They are spade terminals. For my application I think I would have preferred to see some screw...
