PowerSmart 21" Gas Self-Propelled Lawn Mower: Durable, Reliable & Easy to Use

Happy Older Female Customer : I bought this lawnmower in May and it worked great ; but less than two months after i bought it, the handle broke right in two on the lower right side. The lawnmower was now useless. Since it was more than 30 days after I had bought it, Amazon referred me to the Power Smart Customer Service Team. They were excellent to respond to my concerns. Since the handle "part" was "out of stock", they sent me a new replacement lawnmower. They paid for the shipping for me to return the defective mower. I really appreciated their prompt service and willingness to send me a replacement. I am an elderly lady and this lawnmower was easy to assemble and easy to use. My lawn now looks great again!! Thank you Power Smart Team and Amerisun! 😊

ChemoBoy: I purchased this lawnmower when I saw the amount of 5 star ratings. When it was delivered by FedEx it was left on my driveway behind one of our vehicles. I'm 65 and I struggled to push this huge box into my garage. After putting it together and filling it with oil and gas I tried it out. It took many pulls to get it started. When I finally did start it I was not at all happy with the self propel feature. It practically tore my arm out of its socket. There is no way to adjust the pace speed. After 15 minutes it sputtered and stopped. I emptied the grass catcher and tried to start it again. After 4 pulled a loud BANG came from the engine and black smoke came out if it. I had enough! I emailed the company for my money back. A representative sent me a phone number to discuss what to do. In our conversation he said that because of safety reasons it cannot be shipped after it has gas in it. I angrily hung up on them. I called amazon to file an A to Z claim and I am still waiting to see what will happen next.

Arthur: First off this isn't my primary mower, it's a supplement to my riders. I need something to get in the tighter spaces and the big slopes I can't get with them. So this won't be used a whole lot each week. I wanted the bag so it'd also pick up the pine needles and self propelled to so I don't have to push it up the slopes.

Initial impression is it's actually pretty good quality, about the same I'd expect of any mower. Dead simple to set up. Couple bolts and fill with fluids and primed 5 times and started right up. It smoked for a few seconds but any new motor will do that while the oil gets on everything and any machined bits get refined from production.

No complaints yet, will update if something changes. I like that it has a fish view and all parts so if something breaks I hope I can email amerisun and they can send a new part rather unit. Most interesting to me was the horizontal engine. It's a big motor for a mower! The horizontal engine is interesting, typically they are vertical shaft in these but we'll see what long term does for it. Worst comes to worst someday you can probably fit a predator 212 to that gear box but hope I don't have to....

jjjday: So I contacted the company and asked question on here regarding our new mower working for half the yard then quitting and no longer starting.
I read online to use high rated gas AFTER I had already put the gas in that we use for our other mower. Even after reading it, I did not think that was the issue. However, we drained the old gas and put in new 91 gas. Still nothing.
I was being lazy and did not want to disassemble, drain gas and oil, and pack it up; therefore, we decided to run it by a small engine repair shop and just ask if it was a cheap and easy fix. The shop called and said he had never drained that much water out of a carburetor! It was left over from the first gas we used.
So...if your mower is acting the same way....most likely this. Mowed yesterday and GREAT mower.
BTW....company was fast to reach out and offer refund or exchange--no questions.

Dwayne W. Mauk: I was really upset with this mower. In fact, I would not buy this again - should have spent more money. It wouldn't start. I spent the better part of 30 minutes trying to figure out if the sparkplug was the issue or whether or not it was getting gas. I found oil running into the box and traced it. The air cleaner was dripping oil. I opened it up, and discovered the sponge saturated with oil. When I took it out, then it ran. Put it back and couldn't get it to start. I also had to adjust the idle screw as it was in a position that it wouldn't idle. The last thing that ticked me off was as I was mowing, I ran over some bark and limbs. Normal mower, not an issue. Something jammed and stopped the motor. Turned it over, and found the guard for the belt cockeyed and broke. Totally shattered the unit. This design was really a poor design because they ran the entire belt assembly underneath, to the back wheels, covered by two screws to hold the plastic piece in place. Unless you are planning on mowing a golf course type lawn, don't purchase this. It's a pain to get started (found reason - see below) and the drive mechanism is a piece of junk in regards...
