It is compact yet the numbers are big, it is easy to set time and alarm and folds up so it can be taken anywhere. In fact, I have two of them and keep on in my suitcase. I've also given them as stocking stuffers and 'they' love it too.

Adam T.: I've had one of these clocks well over ten years, recently bought one for my partner as she kept sleeping through her phone alarm, now she's never late, fantastic clock and super easy to use.

Siu-I Maria Tu:
I bought this alarm clock many years ago on British Airlines. It lasted for many years and worked always perfectly. It was of a much better and stronger material. The price was also correct. The quality of this clock is very disappointing and too expensive for what it is.
But the delivery person of Amazon was very good and professional.

Annieh: I had my last one for about 20 years and it finally died. It's been in daily use as my bedside alarm and travel clock. I was delighted to find that the same product is still available. It arrived within a few days, well packed and works perfectly. It's lightweight, easy to use, reliable and folds for packing. Great price too.

NOQ: This was for my husband. He had one of these for years and it eventually quit after many many years of travel and use. He is so happy to get the exact same one as he already knows how to use it but also it is light weight, folds to protect face for travel and is extremely easy to use. Straightforward with no complicated gadgets. Thank you for a great, reliable, consistent product. Please continue to make and don't change a thing.

Toolmaker:
I bought this not so much for bedside in hotels--I use my phone and the hotel's clock-- but to place in the bathroom, which is where I am with wet hands when I need to know the time. I wanted a clock that is very easy to change time and stands well by itself, with a cover so I can throw it in my hanging utility bag with no thought.
Don't bother with travel clocks that find the NIST time--that will end badly, because hotels are the worst places to get the signal, more than half the time you are facing the wrong way and the signal would need to travel through 9 walls and 4 steel beams to get to your little clock. I live in a Boston suburb and I don't get the NIST time at my house, ever, due to hills. Twice a year I place my clocks in the back seat of my car when I go to work to catch the time. My point is, you have no idea how good the signal is where you're staying, even if near a big city, and manually setting a NIST clock is never easy. I've had them revert on their own back to the 'last good reading' after I manually set them. Which is why they now take a ride in my car.
What travelers need is an easy-to-set clock, one that is absolutely obvious...

Music Disciple:
Here it is! A simple, folding, battery-operated clock that can keep accurate time, with a light that comes on when pressed. That's all I wanted. I didn't want extra features, such as a temperature reading.
I use it at my bedside and take it on trips. Since discovering it, I had to buy a second one, because I loaned it to my dad and he liked it so much, I gave the first one to him.
It's not as easy as it once was to find such a simple well-made product. May have to grab a third one for a back-up!
Just to be clear, my most recent purchase of this item was in April of 2011, but I didn't write a review until now.
*** Just one tiny additional comment: The light that comes on when you press it, is quite dim, but I find it sufficient to see the time. Very happy with this item!

atthedunes: I just recently ordered my second one of these travel alarm clocks due to the destruction of the first by my recently adopted dog--she's a pit bull mix who gave it a real run for it's money. This clock works so well that I use it everyday. It's loud enough to wake me up, and uncomplicated enough that I can use the snooze button even in a sleep-deprived state. It folds up, so it packs small and is protected from getting banged up in a suitcase or duffle bag. The only thing that I should mention that can be a drawback, is that it has a button to light it up for as long as you are pressing the button, otherwise it is not lit up. I find that I wake up when I travel by clock lights, so this works for me, but I feel this is worth mentioning.

R. M. Sills:
Finding a good travel alarm with a digital display shouldn't be difficult, but I've gone through a number of other clocks that were unsatisfactory. One had a design very much like this one, but the switch was flaky; if you tried to set the alarm, it would irregularly oscillate between displaying the alarm and the time. Another had a folding cover but left buttons exposed in back; when I arrived at my destination, I often found that the buttons had been depressed in transit and the time had been reset.
The Westclox #47508 travel alarm doesn't have these problems, and has worked perfectly so far. As others have noted, the light is dim and remains on only so long as you press the button.
The alarm rings for one minute, and you can snooze indefinitely for four-minute intervals (although I wish the snooze were a bit longer). The buttons and switches are simple and intuitive. It runs on a single L1154 button battery. This battery type goes by various names (alkaline A76, LR44; silver oxide E357, 10L14, MS76, SR44), and is one of the easier button batteries to find in stores. The clock is compact and appears sturdily made.

Marie-France P.: Le premier que j’ai acheté depuis près de 10 ans fonctionne encore très bien. J’en ai racheté un pour mon chum. Très bonne qualité et durable
