Polar Aurora 265GPH/370GPH/525GPH External Canister Aquarium Filter with Built-in Pump Kit

Jenn Penn: This is a second purchase for our turtle tank, which is only filled halfway and needs a filter that can handle a less than full tank. Our first one worked well for an amazing 8 years. Moves a lot of water and keeps it very clean! The filter pump itself is nearly silent, but the return is a waterfall! This has some improved features over our older model, like clamps to hold the intake and output in place.
Advice from experience: if the lid will not clip down easily, you have a tray in wrong. If the prime will not pump easily, you have a tray in wrong or too much filter media. If everything is lined up right, it starts easily!

paige Evanspaige Evans: So I ordered this for my 75 gal turtle tank. It says <200 gal in the description. I really enjoy this, and it is very large. It came with a ton of filter media, and it also had space to add your own.
*Packaging and condition upon arrival 9/10.

-No leaks thus far
-The hoses look durable but are very very hard to flex/manipulate.
-Plastic accessories are cheap feeling but durable enough to hold up to regular set up and use.
-The pump itself seems very sturdy, but the baskets inside seem cheap, but will hold up to regular use. There are also no where to order replacement parts from this distributor. You may be able to find some from another vendor.

-My only complaint is that the output fitting is shaped in a way that it only goes down 1-1.5 inches. My turtle tank isn’t full to the brim, and I hate the sound of the pumps dumping water into the tank.
I had to modify it and push the intake into my fish tank.

MB and LB: This filter system is nice, after implementing a modification that I have found on youtube. When you put this item together note, it does leak but there is a easy fix, you must put a coating of plumbers tape around the gasket this stops the leaking immediately. you might have to wrap the tape twice around, but it does seal the gasket. It is also highly recommended that you put a tray or bucket under this unit just in case it leaks a little. this is a good way to make sure that the unit is not leaking.

Douglas: If nothing else, this thing is quiet, provides good (but not too powerful) water movement, and disconnects easy for cleaning. These is option for a single spout or a sprayer bar. I have the sprayer bar on mine and my black mollies enjoy being in the flow. I have had absolutely no algae problems with this. The quick disconnect makes it so much easier to clean it. My only minor issue is that the screw clamps to hold the hoses on feel very cheap and don’t feel sturdy on my rimmed aquarium. They’ve held for over a year now so I can’t knock down the rating but they still seem untrustworthy even though they’ve proven themselves.

EmertherEmerther: Exactly three years ago, I've purchased this same model but labeled directly SunSun and is still working like new. Had a leak once, my fault for not greasing up the o-ring that seals the filter head from canister and not paying attention, lesson learned and, luckily it wasnt anything bad, leak was very slow.
Anyway, I wanted to upgrade sponge filter on my 15Gallon Tall Aqueon since HOB is not an option as I need to have this as close to wall as possible. Tank is somewhat difficult to maintain with its original stand, the top rim is so so, but rather high for me. Searching for low water current tank filters only SunSun 602-B and 603-B became choice, but the price compared to this with UV included? Also the media capacity, pump is external of the canisters body on those and no priming pump. Ive been debating for a few days to decide if 603-B or this 303-B, still knowing the water flow will be too strong as my old unit still goes insane and nothing stops it. Well based on my experience, the filter is durable if youre handling it as if you would handle a more expensive filters. This has a ceramic impeller shaft as well which was the first thing I was checking for opening the unit...
